We ran across a groomer similar to that on the side of L143 a few years back....turns out it was a groomer the clubs was using, broke down or got stuck and was left for later on to remove....it looks almost the same.

Similar to Cat did not have the 800HO yet years ago, but all the others did....than they caught up in that department, but now they are no longer in the game with the 2-smoke. Perhaps because they have the 4-stroke that provides that level of power if you so desire.... I too am the same, my sled is not a high MPH sled, but it is a blast in the 0 to 80 range, which is my interests anyways.....no more long lake runs of WOT for me. That pic in your avatar, is that on trail L143 from a couple years ago by chance?

LOL., good idea with detuning the old motor just before the new is released! Dyno does not lie, but was Cat not also messing with the gearing over the last few years causing top end to be inconsistent?

I have faith the new 800 will be just as good....

I think most sleds could always use some clutch work, just depends on your riding style....clutching is normally takes the middle line. The belt seems to be a bit blown out of porportion, IMO. If I ever take the 4-stroke route, I would want the turbo, just to have that extra punch when you want it....and the deals on non current can be great, especially the way the winters have been the last few years!

My 2013 800 has been good too, blew up one belt to date....my brother who had a 2012 800, no belt issues either. Seems to be a hit or miss thing.....and I am sure the guys modding the turbo's have brought the issue more to the fore front!
  7. Looking good! Team Poo...Puzz tag along in the lonely Doo? Could not have, the trails are Red, goes against all that he stands for....

Considering slow joe is coming from a 2012 F1100, he should be totally up to speed on the issues of the Cat, wasn't the 2012 the most problematic one of them all !?!?!?! The Cat 4-stroke is also a solid motor with next to zero motor issues, issues were other parts of the sleds..... I agree with Blackstar, 2015 and up, the clutch is an easy thing to work on, if you want to, lots of other clutch options that will be far less than the price tag of looking at a newer ride. And if you are going the 4-stroke route, I cannot see why you would not go with the turbo! Good Luck!
  9. Last set I bought for my travel trailer were Trailer Kings I believe, from PA....so far so good! I do keep mine covered up while parked and usually parked on gravel or blocks of wood.
  10. Seems so fitting!! Just missing the vest & safety gear...
  11. Not a reach around, but of all the guys, Kyle seems to extend and follows through with open offers to ride with just about anyone.....and he has zero issues with just doing it solo! Riding solo actually rarely ends up solo......lots of folks/strangers on the trail to meet up with and have a good ride with
  12. So you are familiar with that area....and perhaps not so "virgin" after all.... Thanks for sharing, but you might have mistaken which forum you are logged onto, this time....
  13. Sporting the muffs & the tall windshield....you must be just lovin it Pictures of what winter looks like, sure are nice too...mighty nice of you to share!
  14. My point was that the majority of the people buying these cost effective DOT helmets are snowmobilers and folks that ride motor cycles, all they are required to have is a DOT, it is their choice to step it up to a higher safety rated helmet but not a requirement. If you are part of a sanctioned race event, DOT will not get you past tech.. So, as a retailer, I am thinking they are going to mostly stock the DOT because they are for sure more cost effective and have a larger audience that are looking for them.
  15. I have no personal experience with Moto racing, but I have no doubt on the Snell expectations The few types of racing I have done, DOT was strictly forbidden. I am fairly certain Snell has various ratings. Just checked mine and it is Snell SA2010....but likely outdated with the current 2015 out. The HANS device is becoming more and more enforced as a mandatory safety device.....if not already, it will not be long until it is across the field.....pockets just need to get deeper & deeper to stay in the game.... The DOT testing and fail rates are something to take note of....but I guess it also depends on who was publishing that article...
  16. Unless things have changed, the protocol was if you were in an open type of vehicle i.e. bike or sled, all that was required was a DOT helmet, if you were in a vehicle with a roll bar where your head was in close contact with the roll cage, Snell was a must to pass safety. But I am guessing any motocross racers likely run Snell though... Not suggesting Snell is not better, but given that safety requirement, I can see why you see more DOT helmets in our market vs. Snell. I also had an old HJC full face that was the first snowmobile helmet I bought, it was Snell with a heated shield, price was around $125.00, it was a great helmet, but like all things, out with the old and in with the new.....I wanted a modular for the simplicity of the trail side stops that was more frequent back than....
  17. I am sure that area will be super busy in light of the winters 360 degree turn south of Suds.... Enjoy & stay warm....looks like they are forecasted to get another little dump & mild spell next weekend!
  18. Oh, well that sucks. Our last QC trip, that went through Mt Laurier, had the same deal....trails were rock hard and thin for snow cover, but still managed to enjoy the ride. Could always do the Abitibi region on the QC side, up to Matagami, very nice area as well, that I am guessing did not see the mild spell.
  19. No snow in QC.....really? Just talking to a co worker before the thaw we had and mentioned that had 6' on his lawn....he lives just outside of Montreal.
  20. Ya, but that usually comes before we have anything really established....when you go from potentially a great looking year, to this...it is a real kick in the head. Plus, just a few days ago it was a minor mild spell with cold & snow to follow....could not get any better than that, settle things down nice, than hit with cold and snow!
  21. Major bummer....I don't think most were expecting this much damage, I know I was hopeful that it would just tighten up what was there, not potentially wipe it out!
  22. No, it was that tiny track that they had on them, may 5/8" if you were lucky and his was so warn, likely less than an 1/2"....no wonder the dream o meter said he was going so fast, the sled had no traction. But that shitty old track did work well on my old sled trailer! My brother had that Doo super ego back than, so I was being the nice bigger brother and letting him feel good....
  23. no, but the one time I was following one (yes following), an old Mach that my brother was on....could not see 10 feet in front of me, and then there was that pressure crack....

    LinQ system

I thought he was too hurt from riding that Doo, with its legendary suspension, the other day to get out again...
