The wife and I have been trying to eat out more, just to help keep the lights on for them. We’re rotating through places that are normally packed this time of year. It’s scary quiet in our area. Winter’s not over yet, keep those sleds full of gas and the trailers ready to roll. With such a strange year, we could all be ditch banging in Iowa on May 15. 😂

Anybody catch the latest SnoWest podcast yesterday (1/11/24)? They managed to get both Dave McClure and Todd Tupper on the phone, live and unscripted, during the podcast. At the time, both were at the photo shoot, or had just finished shooting. I hung out with both of those guys during the 2024 photo shoot and they are both outstanding human beings. The interview with Todd, imo, was less informative, I don’t think he’s as good at bs-ing with the media. Dave had a few really good observations about the 858 and Catalyst in general, and that was the last 10-minutes or so. I’d skip over all the other bs in the podcast and go right to the interview with Dave.

Polaris and Ski Doo dealers near me are all offering discounts and low interest on their carryovers. My formative years were heavily influenced by small businesses and I sincerely feel for these dealers. However: 1 - This is a necessary market correction that is good for consumers, and 2 - Dealerships on the verge of collapse after surviving the rona and the boom that followed didn’t learn anything and should be reevaluating their business model. Same with Cat dealers who were taken by surprise by Cat’s 2025 model year reveal. It’s a bump in the road, not a big deal for any dealership who was being run correctly. Country Cat has had sleds when everyone was sold out in the past. They seem to be able to get sleds when others can’t, and they seem more willing to carry inventory at times of the year when others aren’t. It’s a risk, but as long as they can be successful - and they seem to be - then it’s a risk worth taking.

Mine was ordered by the VP of Sales at Arctic Cat on my behalf. I forgot to ask which warranty I got when I picked it up.

We worked with Swanson Russell at last year's photo shoot. The actual photographers came from a couple of different firms, nobody was from Parascope.

I agree on Polaris - they do a great job with marketing. Welcome to corporate America. Fortunate are the few who have a passion for the way they make a living.

Exactly one year ago, I was there, mostly standing around waiting for my turn to ride the 2024's in front of the cameras. I don't know if they go to Togwotee every year, but that's where we were last year. The professional riders don't appreciate standing around, it's kind of tedious. I didn't mind it at all, and they can call me back any time.

That's weird. I caught at least one other thing that seems weird to me - they're talking about the Blast ZR with a 121" track having a "mountain" suspension? Is that the front spindles they're talking about, @krom? Looks like a typo to me, I had to double check and make sure it wasn't my mistake putting the two pages together.

I'm not a fan of leaked product information and wouldn't post these, except they came right off Country Cat's FB page. Thus, I figured they weren't leaked - they were put there with full approval by Cat. I saw the various media trying to scoop each other, but haven't read any of their articles yet. A couple of observations: They're referring to models by their platform. There's a ZR model in every platform, for example. I haven't seen any further details on the G8 display, but don't think there needs to be - the big announcement is only a few days away, and I'm sure they'll cover it there. I'm seeing a couple of gaps - no Norseman or other utility sled in a full-sized platform, which is kind of weird. The omission of an M on the Blast platform makes sense to me. No "thousands" this year at all, and I think that's good, it confuses people. I'd love to see them pull a rabbit out of a hat at the last minute, a late season turbo, for example. That would be fun.
