I’ll have to keep that in mind when I find a new trailer. My 06 Triton was absolutely smoked, frame had broke over the axle once, cracked welds everywhere, axle cracked so I welded 2 pieces of angle across it last winter to make a big ride. So I sold it thinking (very stupidly) I’d find a decent deal on something before the season. Seeing the prices now I probably should’ve tried to make it one more season with that roach or at least kept the clamshell. Keeping those RZs in the back of my mind but also looking for a decent deal on a set of XTs or XPTs to try. You sure? You do seem kind of mad. And of course a polaris guy would prefer skis referred to a “PP’s”

A buddy of mine has spent quite a bit of time on one and says if you’re under 5’10 to 5-11ish it’s just a little too much cut out. I’m 6’3 he said it’d probably be about perfect for someone my size but I feel like I ride the tank too much for it, ya know, way forward flailing around hanging off the sled like I’m actually going fast? One of those guys. curious as to what your ski of choice is and also what model c&a @Not greg b gives the nod to.
-
It’s the official ski of a defunct racing organization so it’s gotta be good! I tend to set my sleds up to turn as hard as they can without being buckboards, which most everyone that rides them hates because they don’t do wheelies and all that pointless stuff, so these don’t sound like the worst idea.

Never ridden a sled with USI’s but I know a few people that rave about them. Curve is local to me I’ve ridden a few sleds with them too and they work pretty good but they’re pricey and really fucking wide. I can get a set of C&A’s for like 285 local with mounts. Might grab some black on black for my sled.

That’s my other thing I’m thinking about for the new sled. My buddy has a 1.50 storm on his XCR and another on his 20 limited Cat both studded. That seems like a killer track. The 1.375 on my 18 was a great track but idk if I can get behind these 1.25s. My limited 600 has an ice slipper on it and if you want to go over 7mph into a corner with any comfortability or confidence I do not recommend that thing. I just moved to an area with all seasonal roads and field trails though so I’m pretty sure I could go with a 1” unstudded track and stock carbides and be fine.

Do they make bracing kits for the blasts? I think my new winter goal is find one on copart and build a blast “RR” with good shocks and a ZR front end.
-
Yes that’s what comes on them now. I think 19 or 20 and older had a different little more durable style or at least aluminum mounts. Since my RR apparently comes with black ones I’ll throw them on the girlfriends 19 black limited and put Rox on mine. She’s gonna bitch about the sled and all the accessories being wrong anyhow, she might as well be right about the hand guards.

Luckily here it’s usually not too terribly cold. I have a mid I put on when I go up to Canada. I had a mid touring on the 600 limited I bought last year and it was zero air on the body but the way it came over and hit my helmet I was getting a neck workout every time I went over 50. The low does absolutely nothing and the mid does pretty much nothing but a little better 😂. My dad ordered an orange limited, his last sled was a 92 wildcat “mountain cat” 700. His only request was put the biggest windshield they make on there and figure out who makes the warmest gear now.

There’s still not a better handling sled in tight twisty trails (when flat) than a ZR3. I’ve been helping the local Cat shop put together sleds this week we did some experimenting with parts laying around and the green low windshield looks tits on it. I need some more white so I don’t have to put black skis on mine when it comes in so if anyone has a set of these cat Rox that are discontinued they’d part with I’d pay good money for them. Pic is of a box stock RR all setup

I took Greg B’s setup advice on my 21 RR and the thing was well I can’t really say a “blast” or a “riot” anymore but it definitely handled and rode awesome for the 120 miles I put on it before it got wrecked twice and my dealer bought it back from me. Do the RXCs not have QS3 fronts with DSC rears anymore?

My guess is same 2003 underperforming front end geometry, 2008 bulkhead and tunnel with new plastics and some nice KYBs that make base polaris W/E and LXR Cat shocks seem valved ready for snocross.
-
I mean big thanks to Textron for keeping cat on life support for the last 3-4 years, undoubtedly they’d be gone without them, but please do something or sell it at this point, preferably the latter.
-
I’m guessing maybe because 139 designs and a few others already have them out there for the big sleds? I tried to get a few companies to do an 02 ZR CC style wrap for my RR last year and absolutely nobody could pull it off so maybe Thomas and AI should get on that one.

Might want to check Wes’s Instagram. Going to polaris is my guess based off him having a polaris mountain sled for sale

Went through the 19 600 a few days ago that’s ready to go for the season now. Have the 92 Jag special in for a top end now and a guy dropped off a ZRT 600 and Thundercat for me to go through. Zert needs a stator and the thundercat needs the stupid reverse pin that all early cats eat up once a season. Gonna go through the clutches on both of them and do preseasons too.

What was the strangest thing you found on the trail?
Palu49 replied to Doug's topic in HCS General Forum
I locked up the brakes and turned around in Pittsburg NH last winter for what I thought was a go pro in the trail last year. It was a square zip up sewing kit with waterproof matches in it. I did find a brand new leatt brace in the trail one time though. -
A friend of a friend out by me has built a few conversion tanks under the seat for the 19(?) and up SX. I can get his info for you if you’d like. I think they’re 9 or 10 gallons.
