Where is he anyway?  I haven't been on Arctic Chat for a good while.  I guess he's just hanging out there?  He'd really fit in well here.

idk why he hasn't made his way over here, probably not enough Polaris guys to torture.

Always 100:1 premix after a rebuild , I never thought about the pump arm , thats a great idea!

Hopefully I can get parts without a delay and can get it back together and salvage the season , if not I am going to try to get my hands on a sno pro 500 I think and spring order a new sled.

you didn't know the arm trick?  I do the arm trick as part of my winterization process - get it good and warmed up and hold that arm till it smokes like a mo-fo

why would you want a sled for 'women and kids?' - and may I suggest you get an RXC?  until Cat straightens out the 800's I wouldn't touch one - which is a fucking shame.  what happened to your 7000 dream, is Wes still looking for Covid-$ ?

Someone come here and kick me right square in the ass!  I've read about it, was warned numerous times about it, saw a bit of grease actually 'squeezed out' of the bearing, and damnit, rode it anyway.  Ruined both clutches instantaneously.

    Check your jackshaft bearings fellas.

    ouch!  that sucks...

if you can be patient, this place has the best prices I've found online...

LED's are the only good option when your factory headlights suck ass.

no, being smart enough to know how to get better and brighter halogen bulbs is an option.  so is finding European spec lenses or capsules.

On 2/1/2021 at 7:02 AM, jethro said:

Yep, just like cars a good LED conversion requires changing the reflector as well. It's usually about $800 for cars to get it right. People should stick to halogen in housings designed for them, but... idiots abound.

why spend that kind of $ when you can toss in a set of Chinese bulbs for $19 and throw light all over the place?

    10 hours ago, jdsky said:

Side by side with a brand new Poo with factory LED's both sleds light up the trail the same.  So maybe Poo's factory setups are just as shitty.

seems the Matryx has a headlamp adjuster issue, but that's for another forum  :lmaodance:

Those of you in this area ... just a heads up around Lake City.  Some idiots went off the beaten path off County 9, just as you come into Lake City through the quarry.  The land owner there has had enough & shut that down so there's no way into town from that direction now (basically it's where the trail crossed Highway 63 on the south end of town, up through the quarry).  Up towards Frontenac, our club has been dealing with a trespassing issues on the land between Staehli Park Road (to the north) and up to Frontenac.  So that section of trail is temporarily shut down - trying to work with the land owner to see if we can still use it later this season, if we get more snow.  The re-route is to run the road (Territorial Road) north towards the solar panel farm.  So just a heads up that things look a LOT different this year, thanks to jackasses that can't follow simple rules.

snowmobilers will likely kill this sport long before global warming does...

Yeah when it does it and is not restarting, you can find out alot by pulling spark plugs and seeing if they're dry or wet, and then seeing if you have spark too at that time.  Then go from there depending what you find.

Sounds like maybe you have a fuel supply problem and your carb bowls might be going empty.  But hard to say from here, doing some real world troubleshooting will get you going, these things aren't too complicated you just have to know what it needs and find out what it's not getting and then figure out why.

every time you post I just lmfao about your avatar picture - for reasons not obvious to people that don't know

but yeah, as soon as it dies - pull the plugs to inspect and check for spark - a bad coil when hot (not that this could be his problem) is easy to diagnose at the time.  what's sort of hilarious is that the coil is just zip tied to a bracket on the chassis - from the factory.  see 37 & 35

It seems to sputter to a stop. Then it won’t start if I let it sit for 5 min it seems to fire back up. I’m checking the grounds I can find now. Completely went thru both flat slides and put in new jets and surgically cleaned them. Same problem arising. New fuel filter. Tried to pull tank but it seems like a crazy process so I bailed. Draining tank and inspecting pickup line seemed a lot more efficient.

    we'll need more info bud...

what do the plugs look like?

how's the spark, right after it dies?

what RPM does it die at?

what setting is the timing at?

    compression checked?

jetting correct for altitude and temp?

    primary and secondary checked?

and more.... tell us what you've done.  did you test drive it?

ERX will most lilkely have it on their site.  They do a pretty good job.

I missed Friday's races but caught the end on Saturday.  Good track in Fargo.  Some good racing too.  Poo has really flooded the field with their machines and have some impressive up and coming racers.  Team yellow is out there in force too....with a pretty deep bench also.  Green had better get on it and get some young racers on their sleds....which are the minority on the track right now.  Taking a year off from all racing ran off much of their talent and downline of sled availability.  Hopefully they'll get ramped up for next year.

Doo & Poo have a shitload of good up and comers in their stable - hence my 'what happens when Logan retires' question.  Losing Benham was a mistake, and we all knew it but I can't blame Benham for that.

    7 hours ago, Deephaven said:

I missed Friday as well.  What I saw on Saturday was Logan and a bunch of Poo & Doo.  The mighty green team needs investment badly.

And quick.  What many don't realize is that the pro and pro-lite sleds run downhill to younger racers and last year, after two years of racing on the 19's...it was slim pickings.  Shallow bench right now....I see very few talented riders on green in the sport and under class.

    GET WITH IT TEXTRON!!!!

seem to recall @fortune46x talking about some young kid that was given a fleet of sleds last year, so Poo seems to be investing in the future.  to me Pro-Lite is a real tell, and D&P both have some phenomenal Pro-Lite racers atm.   Doo seems to have the most solid lock on talent though, from Sport to Women and the Pro class.  as has been said before, true racers want to be on the best machine first and foremost.  So where is Cat lagging - in race machine tech, $ or support?

The one thing the live stream missed was Taylor Cole being set on fire (literally) when his gas cap came off his sled and turned him into a fire ball - I see alot of the posts (ridex365 and others) have been taken down - Im guessing polaris didnt care for the publicity they were getting from their racer being ricky bobby'd

    holy shit - classic Polaris.

have also noticed the stream will not show accidents or pile ups, like the Kamm/Frank incident.

    2 hours ago, fortune46x said:

sounded like they've been asked to take them down. no one got in trouble - his knee spun the cap off - theres other riders that have had that problem.

    Heres the video

    fire.mov

there's simple ways to fix that... if ISOC approved.  \/ see below \/

Before it was taken down I saw the RideX365 post.  Someone was making 3D printed guards I'm sure everyone will have in two weeks.  It's a shame the manufacturers have so much influence on the snowmobile industry journalists that we can't hear what is going on.

Gas caps should probably have a mechanical lock on them or be moved away from the rider.  That is a dumb spot to put a gas cap.  Where is the Cat cap, under the hood?

could they use latching caps or flush reveal caps like aircraft/bikes have?

wonder if this or something similar would work for $12 ?
