  1. That's almost like a NSSR event. Time to trim the classes and be current. Only vintage cares about a 440 that was last produced 15 plus years ago. There's nothing wrong with vintage sleds I have some myself. But it's time to seperate classes from a sled where a guy actually tunes it looking at the plugs and changing jets -vs- a guy buying a tune and downloading it to the sled.
  2. There would be nothing better than to see a Polaris, Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat and the one guy with Lynx on the track.
  3. Got to know Steve a little when he started up Hot Seat and we were up there a couple times dyno testing and tested some of his products at home. All 3 very talented guys still today.
  4. Tim Benders V-Max's and Steve and Mike Houle's sleds both Polaris and Ski-Doo were impressive to watch. Remember the stories when Tim Bender would have a track plowed out on one of the lakes by Eagle River and do testing at night with only truck headlights lighting up the track.
  5. Snowgoer has an article where USSA and Derby are split over what should be the premier class. Last year it seemed there was an agreement with a direction towards Formula III but with Covid and the season as it was looks like the groups are now going in different directions now. Haven't really followed this much but I know when I was more involved I always liked Formula III because you could identify with the brands that were racing. Now with Champ 440 its almost all Wahl brothers chassis and a 440 motor which no manufacture produces. https://snowgoer.com/news/ussa-derby-split-over-champ-440-formula-iii/29425/
  6. The guys I know each take 4spots min. for the swap meet and also have campers. They are always charged for camping and I don't know how long ago but also get charged per foot for the size of campers. I hope everything does come together and Haydays happens, it brings a lot of enthusiasm for the coming season. On the flip size they also went to some of the more local ones that poped up and sold just as much product and made out better for the bottom line. They are guys that have good inventory of quality used and NOS parts. I'm sure the aftermarket guys have different outlook.
  7. I hope it works out. They were still sending reminders to previous years vendors last year to get their deposits in to guarantee their sights just days before they "postponed" the event. They did not refund the deposits because the event was not "canceled" but "postponed'
  8. Back in 1999 SnowGoer ran an article who was going to be the 5 manufacture being Fast, Scorpion or Redline. All had made some sleds and they're floating around but Fast gave it the best effort. Now we're just hoping to keep the manu factures we have today.
  9. Only for the Blast but it does beat all the 850's and turbo plus all the factory teams are running it. No need for any other clutch kit. Tested it with a Potty tree
  10. Ramstad City. Where nothing but Arctic Cats roam free.
  11. My niece got married in Sedonna outside wedding amongst the mountains. Like you said beautiful area. She said she will never move back to Wisconsin. She came back twice for Christmas with her husband and their flight back out was posted because of snow storms each time. 😊
  12. Cool pics. My niece (Godchild)lives in Chandler Arizona and we went and rode sleds by Flagstaff a couple times when we visited her.
  13. Unusual grooming request. Our club president has some ties with EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) grounds manager. EAA has a small annual winter fly in that there had been some issues in the past on the landing strip. 2 years ago we got asked to come over and groom the landing strip for the event.
  14. That could well be Dave I just remember seeing the sled. Was a sharp looking sled with the gold tunnel.
  15. That's one good thing about Arctic Cat. With nothing changing in 10 years now and dwindling demand much easier to get parts for the sleds they do build. 👍
  16. Was up by our place and met up with some friends that live in Eagle River. She works for one of the resorts and volunteers at the track. She said the resorts, derby track and town were really happy with the turn out and the way the events went for both snowcross races. They would really like to see it returned for next year and beyond.
  17. I live for snowmobiling. The first ride I had was in 1968 by a classmates dad in a field in town. Nobody in my direct family was into snowmobiling so I guess I branched out a little. About 5-6 years ago I owned 13 sleds and a lot of NOS Polaris parts but have trimmed that down to 6 sleds and sold some parts. Currently have 4 limited build, one with an aftermarket motor and 2 current trail sleds. A guy in our club always had a camera at all our events. Here's one where the 1988 sleds were new at a local event that some of the local area dealers brought sled to.
  18. Yes that was the Classic with the gold anodized tunnel. There was a guy years ago that ran that chassis with a 650 based motor called Gold Rush. Another limited build on my bucket list would be a 1991 Indy 500 EFI. They looked the same as a Indy 500 but had a black tunnel and in small letters had EFI on it. There was only about 200 of them made.
  19. I'm 3000 to 4000 a year on sleds and don't have a ATV or UTV. Have a CJ5 jeep by our place up Nth used primary on forest roads and fire lanes but has been known to be parked at some of the local establishments up Nth after a ride through the woods.
  20. Polaris actually had a very limited build of the Indy 500 in 1988. One of Polaris's fall ads actually used one of the proto-type Indy 500 sleds. When the sleds were released they ditched the blue in the center of the cowl and were the same as the Indy 400 white and red cowl only having Indy 500 on the cowl. Its on my bucket list to find an original.
  21. Mine was a 1968 Sno-Jet in 1974 with a 340 single cylinder Sachs.
  22. A number of the vendors at least the ones I know they kept their deposits because it was not "canceled" but "postponed". If they don't have it this year that will be an interesting topic. There was a couple other swapmeets that happened last year at least in Wisconsin that poped up that had real good results and reviews at a more affordable cost.
  23. My jackshaft bearing was fine but the drive shaft bearing was a little light on grease. I also normally shimmed the skis with .25 shims but noticed on the Matryx that the carbides were wearing a little more on the back of the carbides so changed out to .18 shims and that evened out the carbide wear.
