This is what I'm talking about, all convenient excuses for Republicans. The party and it's voters don't have the balls to confront the real reasons why Latinos are turned off from Republicans so convenient lies are what rules the day. It's no wonder the party is in such disarray. A majority is a majority, doesn't matter what the population of Latinos is. Are you suggesting that the Latinos who came to the US are somehow inherently not going to vote Republican? What reason is there to believe they wouldn't vote for the GOP? Do you have something to give credence to the idea that their religious views are different now than they were in 2004? Bush won the Latino vote because he didn't have any idiotic rhetoric flying their direction. Can't say the same for the current GOP.

He won the majority of Latino votes in '04, irrespective of the electoral vote or the recount. Facts that Republicans like to conveniently forget. Makes it easier when they can tell themselves it all comes down to "free stuff".

No doubt about it. It was essentially a contest on who could get more states in their corner for the day when a constitutional amendment to ban slavery came up. The South was working against time.

The South had legitimate arguments on states rights but the ownership of other human beings is indefensible. No two ways about it.

People got in fist fights on the fucking floors of Congress prior to the Civil War so spare us any dramatics of the country being as divided as it's ever been. It's a complete crock of shit. Lots of first world problems around here.........
