studding older track

Recommended Posts

My 2012 800 has the original cobra track on it with 7200 miles.  Still looks quite good and haven't had plans to change it.  Can is still stud this "older used" track and do i need to do 96 or 144 studs?  don't mind spending a few hundred bucks on 1.5" studs if it will make the sled better.

I'd be on the fence just because of some of the tracks that I've changed for guys.  Look close at the track.  Is there any lugs that have the tops ripped or any lugs torn off.  Look at the lugs were the blend into the main belt of the track.  Is there any cracks in the rubber of the radius where it blends into the track.  Also look at the clips.  If they're getting flat where they ride on the slides they could be getting thin where they will start to open up and loosening up on the track and start to wear on the bar.  If you do stud it only stud the center belt.  Keep in mind the time and money you'll have invested.

agree 100% with Doug - also, is yours a single ply Cobra or two ply Cobra?

this might also help... and they have good products for reasonable prices
