The City has a lot of potential as all the development and investment  downtown and along the river  shows...obviously with the dwindling population the problems are with the empty neighborhoods and thousands of vacant, decaying houses.

Even with all the new revival the population still is in decline. I think much of the issues stems from what Cold War stated already. Deep rooted corruption at many levels... its' the norm and tough to change or overcome

The new housing coming into the city is crazy expensive. Figure in cost of insurance  that is 500 times higher than anywhere else, hard to get young professionals in the city. Older people are not going to move back there.  Most people don't realize Detroit only has a population of around 750, 000 .  ridiculous for a major city.

Too sketchy to live outside the downtown area.  My son is paying 1100 a month for a little apartment.

I saw a documentary awhile back and it was talking about the vast areas of the city that are basically turning back into wild areas...just being overgrown..WTF can be done with all that....it’s kind of bizarre.
