A couple of issues: - Some voting schemes don't have an audit trail; electronic voting can be an example of that. - Some political voting systems in the U.S. are hackable. - One of the concerns about particularly Russian hackers is that they might undermine confidence in this November's presidential election; particularly because Putin favors Trump.
