  1. Now if we could only convince Puzzler.... To stop reading SnowGoer..... Oh what was I thinking........ Just get him to stop wearing his belted jacket.
  2. Also remove the belt a let it hang in the off season....... Sorry I better explain I'm talking about your drive belt.....
  3. They were pumped up to be the fastest accelerating sled going. Total failure on acceleration along with a weak top end. The highly touted twin butterfly carbs had a bad lean spot causing major meltdowns later to be replaced by Mikuni round slides. Big time disappointment to the Yamaha die hards........ The Excited 570 was added to the growing list along with the SS440 and 440 SRX (tss models )
  4. Both Buzzards were tucked in tight..... To the Indy Centurian's slip stream.....
  5. Oh No....... Here come the artillery..........
  6. Think the EX 570 Was rated around 84 HP.....Indy 400 around 64 ish...... Sounds like a fair match to me........
  7. That was a good speed for the VMax.... The 570 Exciter would be hard pressed to break 88 on the gun
  8. The Plus was a 521? Can't recall their rated HP...... Must have been a little less then the Indy 5..... 69 HP maybe?
  9. Today's sled have slowed down a lot.... That being said... I'm talking about a new sled back then. Not a 500 Indy with 8000 miles sporting a worn out clutch and a " Thin Belt "...
  10. Being the " Vintage " guy I am..... I'm still running my 95 F250 7.3 with 1.3 mil/ Ks. Only put maybe 10 Ks a year now or one oil change......
  11. You might have to go thru a few issues of those soiled Snowgoer mags .....To find that a good running Indy 500 would touch 94+ on the gun. Not bad for 70+ hp. Have seen a 91 RXL run a 107 but ......My SLP equipped Ohlins suspended 650 was just a little faster on top.
  12. I Never owned an LE... But did own an 83 Indy 600 and an 87 - 600. From there it was 650's or " stay home "....... Running the " C note " on " Kevlar lake ". Where the hell have I heard that before.......
  13. That's has to be a real strange sound when the bolt breaks. Possibly a little louder then when the Isoflex grease gets pumped out the the crank locks up
  14. Boondocking 500' of the main trail is total BS. Go west young man in areas that receive 20' to 40' of Snow. Places where you make the trail thru the tree's. Where you are required to carry additional fuel and possibly survival gear. Not many places in Ontario fit that scenario. But I see more and more mountain sleds packing fuel at the Petro Can just south of P Sound. Yes the have a place in the sport. But the real question is where.
  15. Is that what they call......" Taking one for the Team ".......
  16. These people need to walk down these trails in the summer. It's a real eye opener to see the crap we get to ride over top of....... or thru... Land based trail are easy to open. The Ghurst area has many challenges. Same as the Baxter and other areas.
  17. When Puzzler was younger playing football..... The whole field would tackle him..... Even his teammates.... He's just that type of guy........
  18. What Puzzler really wanted to say.......
  19. Didn't Honda offer a ski package Civic... Called the Honski or maybe it was one of the larger Toronto dealers?..... Maybe there were too many night sitting around the table.... Kinda like " That 70's " show
  20. That snow pack should help the problems with belts and clutches running hot......
  21. Not like today's Sno X... That look like an oval race with jumps.. Maybe I should have called it a cross country race? Track was maybe 3 miles long. Ran down the lake over land and down the river. There were many 200+ mile cross country races in the US at that time. Many dominated by a 333cc L/C powered sled.........
