  1. Your wife is going to ride it? Touring or a long track sled is likely not the best for her, if that is the route you go, look at the Yamaha/Cat seeing as they have electronic power steering...just not sure what year they started with that feature. DOO gets a bad name for engine failures, but there are a lot of them out there and newby riders tend to buy them (to go "ski doo'ing"), so they are not looked after or maintained as well as a person that is more seasoned, so it might seem exaggerated....but the 1200 is a proven motor, as is the CAT & Yamaha 4-stroke motors.
  2. I think the key here is occasional 2-up riding. Which sled has the best add on seat so 90% of the time the seat is not there and the sled is still fun to ride. I know CAT also has or had a seat you can add, but so does DOO. Check em both out and buy the one that you like the most......both 4-stroke motors are proven and will not be a weak point.

Oh, come on, that is funny, no matter who did the handy work!

I am surprised I have not bumped my head more loading or unloading....maybe if wore the helmet, I would have some dents in the walls/roof that never used to be there...

Yes, more than likely I will still load or unload my sled with out a helmet.....go for a quick run down the road and back, likely not.

Not suggesting he was not going fast, maybe he was, maybe he was not.....but even bump to the head the wrong way at a slower speed could be devastating to someone, the guy was 50 something and we all like to think we still invincible at that age too! I will be honest, I have on many occasions, when I pull my sled out the garage for the first time at home and we have snow, run up or down the road with no helmet on, do not think twice about it, as I am sure many have and do! I pull the sled out of the trailer and I think most times pull it into the trailer with no helmet on.

Was a speed ever posted?!?!? Really does not take much to mess yourself up, fall the wrong the way, etc...& you could be done. Sounds like a horrible mishap, that could likely happen to so many in the blink of an eye. Reading a post on OC, he is only being kept alive until his daughter arrives from out of town, sad to read that shit, no matter what the circumstance.
  8. Much like you, I do not have problems with my sleds....and yet you ride a DOO, who have thunk....
  9. No plans, I still like riding it and it runs great....but with that generous offer, you might make me think about it
  10. I forgot too, that some like to ride like ladies....fancy belts and all.....
  11. Really make you wonder how Doo does it, when the price of a new sled includes what 2, maybe 3 rebuilds....must be volume discounts that let them get away with it!
  12. Selling some products at cost or a loss is nothing new....brings folks into the store to hopefully buy the other products with higher margins.
  13. that one is priceless, I have to admit!
  14. Lol...well at least when they burn up, no need to worry about buying parts! If you search, you will find just all manufactures have had a sled fire on the side of the trail!
  15. Lol... That is funny, you ride a Doo, of course you do
  16. Fail and you ever rode...or are you also on the "list"
  17. It is nice to have fail back raising the bar, or maybe that is lowering the bar.....but the thread count/activity sure as hell goes up!

    House build

It is funny how you forget about the 9 months after a little one is running around the house.....you tend to remember more how they are after they are out! My wife always says that if we had our son first, we likely would not have had two....lol
  19. But of course.... Cheers to a great, long, snowy & safe season
