Im not sure what you are trying to get at. Nothing in your illustrations can change the final drive ratio EXCEPT, if the nubs of the track run on the top of the drive cogs. And that would push the track out farther which would change the ratio. But in reality that could never happen because the drivers would then ratchet on the track. If the drivers aren't made correctly, they will not proper fit in the track and will either ratchet or wear out very fast. If the pitch is slightly off, it will wear, if the diameter is incorrect, it will ratchet. Again, its not rocket science. Simple math. I didn't read what crusher had said.

A 7 tooth 2.86 drive gear can only be one diameter. Same for a 8 tooth 2.86, or a 9 tooth 2.52, etc. So comparing apples to apples, a different lug track on the same tooth drive of the same pitch, it makes absolutely no difference. edit. maybe you were saying the same thing and i just didn't read it right? if so, ben is still a faggot

That "Polaris race engineer" article is not only old, but that guy must have just started with Polaris 5 mins before he wrote that piece. He basically talks about very little pertaining to the topic of final drive. Obviously he is a recent college grad, with no knowledge of snowmobiles and is trying to act like he has all the answers. But in the end, he is correct that the lug height cannot change the final drive ratio.

Take a look at some of the mtn tracks weights. They are lighter than trail tracks. Btw, No possible way a different lug height changes final drive ratio. It's impossible. And it's not rocket science.

Slinger speedway in WI has 36* corners and its 1/4 mile. I had been racing for 4 years before I first raced Slinger. My first few laps of hot laps, I got dizzy. It's fucking unreal.

I raced for 10 years. Sportsman and Late Models in WI and IL. The adrenaline going through your body is 100x that of the rush you get from snowmobiling hard. But on the other hand, the lows are way worse than when your brand new sled with no insurance gets wrecked or stolen. And its fuckin stupid expensive.
