Feels a bit unnerving that the engine calibration was that far off just a couple wks ago and they are still talking chassis changes to reduce weight. I dont know how the engine calibration stuff works but it has to be EPA compliant before production I'd imagine and if its still changing this much that would make me nervous. Same with chassis changes, seems a bit late in the game to be making changes for the MY25 sleds in my mind. The re review came off to me as Cat is scrambling to get these working...and we all know how 1st yr anything can be.

Confirmed 9R Boost in island park right now so there’s your 2026 leak. Kinda defeats the purpose of having the 850 and 9r but people love seeing horsepower numbers
Unless they still offer the 850 NA, 9r NA and a 9R boost

Damn, that really is devastating!

Didnt the old skool mod sleds in sno x run 520 (or similar) chains? Like fricking dirt bike chains?

interesting rumor. Not saying your right or wrong.. But WTF would JD want back into snow biz for? And if Textron wanted out why not sell to Yamaha if they offered? (rumor was they did offer some time ago)?
Its as odd as Textron wanting Cat all those yrs back.

They are in the process of buying Cat from Textron. Recently Deeres social media pages have been advertising that they used to make snowmobiles, they also came out with a line of retro JD snowmobile appeal. They are creating buzz and excitement around the nostalgia of the brand before announcing they are getting back into the sport by acquiring Cat

Its hard to beat a doo if you want average. They are very quiet in comparison to poo and cat when it comes to intake and exhaust noises. Handle and ride well too. They are the definition on average.
Cat missed the mark big time if that was there aim
-
Fawk! So according to wise one here Cat is now going after the average consumer?? Textron really has fucked up cat if that is the case.

Deja vous all over again..
Though it came up already in this thread, but its come up hundreds of times so it may not have been this thread..
Textron in their infinite wisdom marks weighs with the last 3 digits of the pn, and the mass of the weight not including the bushing.
Everyplace else they label and mention it, the mass of the bushing is included. So 66g weights are marked 65, 64g weights marked 63 etc.Jim thinks this is an innovative and genius move by Cat and texteon and only they are smart enough to ever dream up doing something this earth shattering

"Hauling ass" how does one quantify that?

Catalyst is the best thing from cat since 1993. They're doing ok. People will be ordering 858's in a couple days. Same haters today hated cat before Textron. Now there's Textron and they have a new Boogeyman to hate and can romanticized about the fabled "old guard" that brought you the twin spar and the 2012-2016 procross.
Firing people ain't bad, I wish my company would fire some people. Sorry for the hate interruption, continue on. How bout that horrible catalyst eh
So the old cat was bad? And those loyal before textron shouldn't have been? Trying to understand your logic here.
What is it that makes or made cat what it is or was? The people, culture, management, the building, the town? Genuinely curious your thoughts here.
It's definitely a different company now than what it used to be. So are both versions good? If so. What makes that so?

Another big round of firing engineers in trf happened.
Shocked @ZR6000RR didn't post the info and list of names, with all his contacts and inside knowledge
Hope they retained some of the good old boys from the pre textron days. Probably not tho. Really isn't much left of the old cat as far as people and culture

Show me proof they have. If you have none. Shut the FUCK UP! Have a great weekend.
It's a belt drive system similiar to poos. Contrary to your belief and the marketing hype around it, it's nothing special. Parts will and do fail. Cat isn't using some secret belt material or sprocket tooth geometry here and surely their suppliers are only capable of the same machine tolerances for the bearing bores in which controls the center to center distances and alignment of said sprockets. Don't be an ignorant fool here and continue to believe that these are indestructible and somehow whisper quiet. Any gates poly chain used in any application or industry is capable of failing.

Iron dog follows ISR rules. No way cat, doo and yammi would have allowed prototype poos to compete and win without raising an issue and getting the team DQ'ed. The pics you provided of the finish line are proof enought they they aren't the switchbacks

So iron dog allows proto sleds to run? Don't they have to meet stock class rules?
-
I dont think there was 2011 switchbacks in the rush body work like shown in the article from March 2011

Pretty sure a Nytro won a snox national event.
The Rush never won the ID, it was a ream riding Switchbacks. The 121 didn’t work worth a shit. Just like I posted back when it came out. Neutral 3rd party source proved me right.
