I agree that there is no digging ourselves out of this but I also 100% believe govt cannot be entrusted with our money. Let me keep more even at the cost of higher deficits because they will just waste it and pad the wallets of their cronies. BOTH SIDES do this. America is heading towards financial collapse without significant austerity measures. Best hope is get close to a balanced budget and have economic growth that lowers the debt to GDP ratio by that alone.

We have a spending problem. 2024 we collected almost $5 trillion in federal taxes. That's $15,150 COLLECTED for every man, woman and child. 40-50% of households paid in no federal income taxes. If you want to say not paying for it problem it falls on them...not on those of us paying 25% plus to the Federal Govt alone. I agree the BBB doesn't attack the problem enough. Stated this a number of times already. Its another kick the can down the road bill. It has plenty positive but doesn't address spending enough. Yes Powell did do a good job on inflation doesn't change the fact that EVERY PRESIDENT would want less interest on debt they didn't necessarily make especially when so much is due for refinancing. I'm mean that's a pretty simple concept for anyone to comprehend. I agree these are more normal rates and many times have discussed this with another member....doesn't change the previous statement about interest on the debt and budget.

Every President wants lower rates. You do realize we have to refinance $9 trillion in debt this year. Few points can mean $100's of billions to the budget.

Reality is the American economy is more resilient than any other in the world. We have millions of hard working people and our economy is extremely diversified. Don't get me wrong there is plenty we could do to make it better but generally speaking the world revolves around us.

Politicians are deathly afraid of it getting used against them and honestly I don't think they read that right on many things. I think American's in many cases would applaud them for it.

Steal their thunder. Raise federal MW and a higher tax bracket for really high incomes. If the D's refuse to sign it gives plenty of advertising for midterms. I'm not 100% opposed to raising the MW but at the highest level it should be done by the states, should really be local. Lets face it what works for NY City might not work for small town upstate NY mom and pop shops. Let's be clear it could have an inflationary consequence if gone too high. Only about 10% fall under $15 hr. Unsure how this is calculated and if it includes jobs that are low and rely on tips. I'd love to see something to break down a bit of the ridiculous tip culture we are in and I tip extremely well. No job should have exemptions for under MW and none should for not paying OT like AG gets. I know some guys that make pretty good money but work extremely high hours in the AG business.
