That may be the reason these are smaller, air based platforms. The US spent the last 20 years fighting asymmetric warfare and allowed hypersonic to slip away. It’s one area where China has the edge. The kinetic energy release of an object traveling and 5 or 6 times the speed of sound is no doubt impressive. I think the reentry object the Chinese uses is 10 times the speed of sound.
