Doug
Just some additional details. Keweenaw Trail Report Good morning! We have the good and the “not so good” this morning as we are sure most of you already know…. The AMAZINGLY good - yesterday Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden was officially reopened after being closed since the Fathers Day Flood of 2018! Anyone that is familiar with riding the Keweenaw, knows what great news this is! THANK YOU to ALL who worked tirelessly on getting this accomplished! Michigan Dnr, Keweenaw ATV Club, Keweenaw Snowmobile Club, State Representative Greg Markkanen, club representatives and members, contractors - ETC ETC There are SO many to thank on the endless list of people and organizations responsible for making this happen! As for the less than good news…..we need snow and cold and the forecast does not look like it is cooperating we all know how quickly and easily conditions can change here in the Keweenaw AND we are certain they will….. For now let’s celebrate this photo and article shared by the Mining Gazette! “Supporters and partners joined the Michigan Department of Natural Resources today in Houghton County to celebrate the reopening of a roughly 8-mile segment of snowmobile and off-road vehicle trail devastated by a historic storm in 2018. In what is likely the Michigan DNR’s largest trail repair project, $10.5 million was spent for work that took contributions of time, money and expertise from numerous sources and years to complete.” Quote from Mining Gazette.
