Three???

Recommended Posts

A newborn baby boy was discovered to have three penises, the first confirmed case in human history.

A Kurdish child from Duhok was born with three penises, or medically called triphallia, with swollen testicles.

The doctor's measurements of the two additional penises are 2-centimeter (0.8-inch) near his primary penis, and 1 centimeter hidden underneath his scrotum, The New York Post reported.

The two extra penises were removed because they did not have urethras and did not serve much functionality.

The doctors were unable to determine how the baby grew three penises. Tests were run to see whether or not he was exposed to alcohol or drugs during his pregnancy, but that was not the case.

There once was a similar case reported in India in 2015, but the child reportedly had no anus.

However, because that newborn's triphallia was not documented in an official medical journal and thus could not be verifiable before the parents removed them, it is speculation, Daily Mail reported.

The child's parents have to follow up with doctors regularly, especially when the boy goes through puberty, because the condition of the triphallia may pose medical and cosmetic difficulties. "A combined multidisciplinary team is usually required for the management and long term follow up is usually required," according to the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.

The rare condition of having one additional penis, diphallia, was first reported in 1609 and is thought to affect 1 in every 5-6 million boys.
