  1. Not going to be around my egg until the 12th. Already going into withdrawal, thought about buying a cheap smoker to get me through this difficult time.
  2. How are the deals on the Flex? Thinking about one in September but I would really like another pick up, with the Yukon not sure I need two trucks though. Always liked the Flex.

  4. The weather would have to be ideal before I ever considered it, would not try it when it's 90+ which is often the case. A lot of out of towners for sure, lot of regulars as well. It's how he got his start. Yeah I always thought he seemed like a good guy on the BBQ shows.
  5. No, I was going to try it a few years back but didn't have the time to wait in line all day. I no longer travel to Texas often so I'm not sure I'll have a chance, although I do have family in Austin. I did just finish reading his book, pretty good read. Amazing to me that everyday people line up at 6-7 in the morning with lawn chairs and drinks, they sell out everyday by early afternoon, not open for dinner. I would like to see what all of the fuss is about, I haven't been blown away by TX BBQ just yet. It's good but I prefer KC or Carolina.
  6. I am lucky in that I get to try a lot of the good steakhouses around the country due to my job. Since we picked up the big green egg I am mostly disappointed in restaurant steaks, couple of exceptions here and there. The Kamado style grills are really good with steaks.

  8. Wife and kids are out of town so I thought I'd have a little grub. 2.5lb bone in ribeye, smoked with hickory, COTC, and a salad since I am on a diet. Best steak I've ever had.
  9. It's pretty good fast food. They're always busy and service is very good.
  10. Healthy dinner on the smoker, think I prefer beef and pork....but it was good.
  11. Yep, even a decent butcher shop you have to speak with the actual butcher, the folks running the counter generally have no idea. This one was 5lbs, plenty of meat.
  12. Beef ribs from yesterday. Probably my favorite thing to cook right now, delicious.
  13. Ribeyes on Friday, pork butt today, and beef plate ribs tomorrow. weight loss challenge begins on Monday.

  15. Nice, i downed a 6 pack today while tending to the grill. On to bourbon now in preparation for GOT.
  16. Little gorganzola and horseradish sauce. Love this stuff.
  17. It's a trade off really, wrapping imparts more flavor into the meat. No wrong way, just whatever you like. i don't wrap butts, love the big bark mixed with soft stuff.
  18. Finishing out of the foil gives you some bark, just not as much as you would without.
  19. St Louis I like to foil for an hour, then an hour out of foil to finish.
  20. Black Rocks Grand Rabbits. It's not Cow but fairly close. Brewed in Marquette, MI
  21. Smoking a chuck eye roast now, pepper stout beef sammiches for dinner. Just finished up with the smoke in some pecan. And put down in for a few hours to bath in some good stuff. 3 beer job so far.
  22. Where are you located? Buddy of mine needs to replace an Egg.

  24. Shame the decision drives off normal posters with decent input.
