  1. Even now the one ski Doo that runs the series out here has that giant ugly ass tank. Ski Doos get the best mileage on the trails because they get ridden the slowest.
  2. Just checking in to make sure you mean this will make people switch from Doo because Doo still can’t figure it out? Even their 600s don’t last around here. Big bore etecs are 4000ish mile motors and 600s are 5-6k life expectancy. At least the Ctecs are 300 OR 15k mile motors and polaris guys don’t act like their 4-5k mile big bores are bulletproof
  3. You can’t win over Doo riders they’re a cult following that refuse to try anything else. “Ski Doo is the best and I couldn’t tell you why but they are.” Remember these are the people who had 500ss’s and were amazed they had “600 like power”
  4. How’s your Alterra?
  5. Did you have a new XCR this year? If so how were the spring rates and everything compared to the last few years?
  6. What about the fat bastard sitting on the 12 tunnel in old forge
  7. I was actually talking to a couple of guys at the races today about their diesel heaters. These were on pretty big 35-40’ goosenecks and they said they love them they heat up fast and hardly use any fuel
  8. That’s right because we all know it’s gonna make F7 power!!
  9. I was talking to a couple ski Doo hard ons I know today and they asked if I was going to old forge for the Catalyst demos. I told them I’m racing this weekend and probably won’t make them, plus I ordered mine already so what difference does it make, but I would like to try one of the 129s with the uncoupled skid. They both looked at me with dumb looks and one says “yea I don’t know what that means.” The scary part is these are the types of snowmobilers that generally are the most brand loyal blow hards.
  10. They’re penciled in somewhere between Scorpion and Yamahas 2037 model year machines. Ski doo makes up most of the production runs now though. A guy that runs the Scorpion line told me this when we were riding unicycles last week.
  11. The blast was literally “designed” to not waste the r&d money from the snow bike motor numb nuts. You’re completely ignoring my original statement that cat put themselves in the financial position to get where they are now, I’m not saying they’re releasing a bunch of stuff tomorrow and I’m not saying they’re the niche performance snowmobile company they used to be. I’m saying that’s what they were and that’s what got them here.
  12. The blast is evidence of it as it’s a stop loss for the r&d of the 400 single for the snow bike….. Everyone knows cat was testing their home built 850 and 900 before the ctec came out, released the ctec 800 when Doo released the 850, you don’t think they had every intention of a bigger motor at least on time with polaris? They went out of business at about that exact same time. Maybe you have no basic understanding of business if you think textron would ever come in on a fledgling company and throw a fuck ton of money at them before they show they can turn a profit. If you think Cat not having a real presence in 4 seasons worth of markets affects their snow division and company as a whole compared to the other 2 players you’re even dumber than you come across as on the Internet.
  13. Exactly my point on the bold. I think their best chance is to roll out the catalyst over the next few years with changes and improvements and some bold new innovations/technologies that people want, not just feeding their niche. I guess we’ll see what textron is willing to do.
  14. I think you’re beginning to become (maybe already were I haven’t paid attention) just as dumb as Jim. I never said they’ve had the best sleds for decades I said they hung their hat on a performance niche in the industry. That in turn kept them from diversifying from their main product line, which is a dying market. BRP was always going to be big, polaris made themselves big by diversifying their product lines, with good product, at the right time. That diversity and growing of the company that polaris did put them in a situation where they have/had a lot of capital to pump into the snow division and it shows. The lack of diversity and staying a small company prevented cat from expanding and eventually put them out of business and into the hands of a major penny pinching corporation that’s only going to invest more once they know it’s going to make them money. There’s not one single excuse for cat in there, they did it to themselves, it’s just the facts of the situation at hand and literally pointing the finger at Cat for how fucked up of a company they are/were. If textron didn’t have to bail out cat and sort out all of their bullshit in the process the catalyst or something else would’ve been out a lot sooner. Cat had motors, chassis, snow bikes and I’m sure a bunch of other shit in development and “ready” to release before textron. They had the shit ready to go, they didn’t have the money to make it go. If you look back to my diversity portion you may find a direct correlation to why that is (or maybe not you don’t seem that smart).
  15. Cat buried themselves in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s by being strictly the performance snowmobile guys. That is in part what made arctic cat arctic cat but it also kept them small and behind the eight ball as a whole. Polaris went out at the same time as cat and take a look at what they’ve been able to do, basically because of getting on the 4 wheeler train very early and diversifying over the years. Cat had a few half ass attempts at jet skis and 4 wheelers but painted themselves into a corner as being the little company from Minnesota that builds fast sleds. If they could get a chunk of the market share back they’d go after it as hard as they could but they put themselves into a financial situation to not be able to do that right now. Hopefully textron watched and saw some of what Fiat did with Dodge/Ram trucks and can do that with Cat but I have my doubts. Also the Firecat was the beginning of the downward spiral for cat.
  16. It’s confusing I thought the polaris were a lot less but once you “build and price” a base 650 xcr the price goes up to $16,500 for a 128 and $16,800 for a 136. Still not bad comparatively. Ski Doo is mostly funded by the Canadian government so they’re probably better off selling shit cheap to show less profit and get more cash.
  17. He deserves them to put next to his 38 procross signs I guess
  18. I ordered 2 and didn’t get a sign. What’s with that @krom
  19. I mean just about every Gen 4 I work on is structurally twisted up in some way, most of them are twisted where you can’t get the drain plug out of the chaincase. And do has always been the “reinforcement kit” kings.
  20. That’s 5% of the weight on a 500lb machine. Aren’t you all excited about cat cutting 10% with the catalyst? Imagine the boner you’d have for 15% if you had the strength to pull over a 600 twin
  21. It was one screw on the procross lmao they didn’t do anything great it takes probably 30 seconds less now. Plenty of people don’t want electric start, I got my new RXC without it. Not defending cat and I agree they should have them available either way but I’m guessing with the lower number of units and cat being a much smaller company it (in their penny pincher eyes) makes more sense to them to run everything down the line exactly the same or as close as possible.
  22. No they ran them out here finally. 12” new snow throughout the week and 14” of wet stuff overnight it was rough. My sled just wouldn’t run the long straights something is up with my clutching. Pass a few in the turns in the bumps, lose it all and then some on the straightaways. Already ordered parts on my way home 😂
  23. Herf won pro open today on a catalyst. I got 2 semi pro dnfs and a 4th on a procross. Looks like the catalyst is in fact the future based on those stats
  24. Arctic cat barely maintained 20% in the ZR years when they had the best sleds out there. Mid/high teens is probably a comfortable role for them to settle back into if they keep going and don’t settle on the catalyst and a couple new motors for 12 years.
  25. You didn’t say it looked like a ski Doo. You said it was in fact not the new cat chassis but a photoshopped ski Doo. Btw, You’re*
