  1. Infinite life. Yeah, sure. Does cat really think their buyers are that fucking stupid? Well, other than dumstad anyway.
  2. Maybe the the shit for brains in DC will give sledders a $7K tax break to buy battery powered sleds that go 50 miles before needing a recharge and 25 miles if you don't ride like dumstad.
  3. Except the dealer I Makes sense for single line dealers but two dealers I work with have Yamaha, Doo and Poo products in their showrooms. There are some smaller dealers with Yamaha only but they are getting fewer and far between. I know of at least one small Yamaha dealer in Northern WI that only has their marine products and no dirt or snow at all. They rent sleds in the winter but they get Doo for their rentals.
  4. Not really sure why Yamaha stays in the snowmobile game at this point. Cannot be much of a money maker as the sales volumes are miniscule so it's not even a good outlet for their motors. Maybe they sell just enough to cover costs or squeek out a tiny bit of profit due to the fact they must have very little manufacturing costs at this point. If anything it's likely the kids sleds that keep them hanging around as the profit margins have to be completely ridiculous on those things at their current price points.
  5. Cat can do better and they should. The call outs are no different than when anyone launches a new chassis and calls it a game changer or some other sort of bullshit when everyone except for dumstad should know better. I already am a genius I guess since I have a green sled but here's my wish list for next year and the only way I'm going to sell it. - Catalyst chassis designed specifically for the yamaha engine - move it back, lay it flat, just make the fucker better balanced and better handling, reduce the weight at least 50lbs. - Upgrade the gauge to anything better than the 80's atari graphics. I don't give a shit about BMW style flat screens, gps, volume knobs, don't care just something that is well integrated and looks like it came from at least the year 2020. - It will have to be Yamaha so make it blue and white, not green because my dealer no longer sells cat That's it. Should not even be that fucking hard. Everything already exists today, even the gauge according to the factory engineers so not even asking for that much. Here's the likely deal breaker. It has to be equal to or less than the competitors sleds because I'm not paying more at todays fucked up sled prices.
  6. There was a ton of discussion going on when cat revamped their 800. Most of it was around the fact that it did not in fact meet the EPA regs, even though cat crowed about it prior to the gen 1 release. The rest was around the fact that it did not perform nearly as well as it should have and it was far from a "160HP class" engine. Rough running, high idling, flame thrower. This was the best summary I could dig up as to what was changed from gen1 to gen2: Here is what's new with the 2020 C-tec2 8000 series engine from Arctic Cat: Updated semi-direct injection, new cylinder with repositioned fuel injector, new combustion chamber, new piston, new higher resolution flywheel with 1 piece construction, new fuel rail w/dual dampers, new fuel calibration, improved valve servo actuation for faster response, more torque and cleaner calibration, reduced emissions, oil delivery through the case with high velocity, sprays directly at the main bearings, eliminate oil spitback through the intake, one piece flywheel quicker reving/reduced harmonics, more teeth provides improved data rate, faster response for map, improved run quality
  7. Have not pissed away any money on a Ford product since 1989. Learned my lesson the first time buying shit.
  8. It's only bad when the two stroke that fails is the one you own.
  9. It'll run the numbers.....
  10. Cat agrees and held off on that new chassis because you know, no modern chassis needed because trails are always smooth.....I suppose no new performance motor next season because, only 600s or smaller are actually needed.....
  11. If anyone is just dying to ride one of those old buckboard style chassis I know where you can pickup a 700 sabre cat for less than the price of a new zr120.
  12. Feel bad for yami and 2024. Just how many versions of a sidewinder does their need to be?
  13. I really don't give two shits if anyone changes brands but if cat builds better products people will buy them. Too many diehard cat fanatics have argued for too many years that cat has the perfect product lineup - see dumstad. Poo has improved their products a shit ton over the past half decade and their sales reflect that. None of this has anything to do with how many miles a given rider can put on a 2 smoker before it smokes. My 600's had zero issues ever. Even my fucking old as dirt 98' ZR died only because my son decided to launch it onto a solid pile of ice that he thought was snow. I call total bullshit on any 600's failing early these days unless user fucking error. Big bore smokers? YMMV regardless of brand so again, not the reason anyone is buying one manufacturer over the other.
  14. Poo has already won over more than a few and it shows in their sales numbers. There's been by far more new poos on our trails over the last couple of years than anything else.
  15. Agree with this for a couple of reasons. Poo still won't release their turbo 4 stroke and Doo riders that still have not switched to Poo by now are likely not going to so open season for cat. But cat has a shitload of work to do first and most of it is going to take years. They need a proven reliable performance 2 stroke. If it lands next season it will take at least 2-3 more seasons to prove to everyone that it is the real deal and reliable. They need to purpose build the catalyst for the Yami engine i.e better balanced overall than it is in the PC chassis. That's if they still have the option to sell it moving forward. The drive train needs to be bullet proof reliable with zero issues. No clutching problems, no drive bearing problems, no issues with the new belt drive, period. If they can get these things ironed out I think they can take sales away from doo. Oh, and the big one. If their sleds are going to be the most expensive options on the market they have to better in every single way.
  16. Where's the rebate??? You keep posting this as if it's a bad thing. Since when is having leftover sleds at the end of the season bad for customers? Pre-scamdemic everyone expected leftovers and an option to score a new sled at a good price. In low snow years there were just more models to choose from and at even deeper discounts. Dealers can sell their shit for whatever price they want to.
  17. For most it's just commentary about an unbiased review. Not just fans blowing about what a gamechanger it is. The orders are in and production will be starting soon. The runway to fix remaining issues is getting shorter by the day. It's good cat finally brought a modern chassis to market. It's not good that it only comes in a warmed over 600. It's not good that it is now the most expensive option of the three manufacturers. It's not good that supply is so limited that it sold out in minutes.
  18. Except you rode the same fuckin' demo sleds and said they were all perfect. Completely flawless. Bestest things on snow ever to be dreamed up and of course only cat could do something so tremendously stupendous. Fucking Dipshit.
  19. dumstad is the rider on the left....
  20. No shit. Some of the best stories for us involve a 97' cougar. It was a sled my brother would loan out to buddies coming with us on trips back in those days. It was wrecked so many times we lost count. Always something epic. That sled got towed back a bunch but also just kept on running. That 550 liquid zuk was a runner but we could not keep drive bearings in that sled due to all the wrecks. Based on all the late 90's stuff we still see on the trails I'm sure someone is out there somewhere still putting miles on it.
  21. No 90 mile rides on those for me anymore. We just sold the last of our vintage machines a couple weeks ago. 79' 5500. 503cc of air cooled awesome. I could definitely ride it down the road and back or across the fields but on the trails? I would be laid up for a few weeks recovering. Messed my back up several years ago and if not for modern suspensions sledding wouldn't even be in the cards anymore. Looking at the machines we used to ride is great nostalgia though. Mostly for the stories surrounding those rides.
  22. For me looking at vintage sleds on the trails or stops is interesting and cool, riding them not so much.
  23. Go back to jerking off to your order confirmation shit for brains.
  24. Jeebus H Christ. It's not a fucking rebate, it's a dealer discount. Cut and paste right off the website.... I'll even bold the important word for you. All accessories ordered will ship separately from the sled and will deliver directly to your dealer. *Plus destination charge and set-up. Logistics surcharge of $700 will apply.
  25. Rider in our group has been waiting years to replace his 07'. Looking like he will order a 600r.
