  1. I haven't looked hard into EV yet. But I think it would be a viable option for wife's daily. She has charging stations at work. Just have to figure out how much it would cost to charge at home.

She is hard on brakes, hard on the go pedal even when its cold as shit. And every fuckin time I get in her vehicle to go somewhere the damn gas light is on.

She will probably "forget" to plug the damn EV in every night.

Since no one in the red camp has any insight on this @krom... maybe @Tommcat can address the lack o umpf.

My riding partner has a 22 RMK Boost. I have not ridden it yet. But I he had it on our last trip. It was out of break-in. He words were "its better down low than my Axys and my Pro. Its more than the Pro up top and really close to the AXYS up top."

His Axys is a Silber turbo'ed 800 running about 10lbs of boost on AV gas. Its over 200hp at 8k ft.

His Pro is a Boondocker race gas turbo kit. Running 9lbs at 8k ft, 11lbs at 10k ft on AV gas. Probably in the 185hp range.

And the 22 Boost is bone stock running pump gas.

I haven't ridden a Doo turbo, but I have no doubt whatsoever the RMK Boost is way more than 165HP at 8K, like Doo advertises.

    Guessing its over 190hp.

BTW he also has a Nytro tank that he got stupid with. Impulse turbo, in the 400hp range. Sits in garage never gets touched anymore.

Been yrs but last motor we blew in the hills was rebuilt right there the next day . Put a bacon under the hood covered it in snow.  Brought back pistons a jug and head next day .

It is worse when you wreck em that has cost a few buds the 2500 to put it on the hook and fly it out . Insurance paid for 1 guys  but not the other progressive paid All-State did not

Yeah we took the engine apart to see what was needed to get it running. Was seized. Turns out it was the crank.

We just marked it with GPS. Didnt bother trying to hide it, if someone would have found it that far back, in the dark, I would have given them a fist bump for for having a big set.

What you guys can fix on the hill is amazing.  If it isn't a belt or plugs, us trail guys just tow it to the nearest road and send someone for the truck.

Dont have a choice. I will do everything in my power, knowledge and ability to not pay for a helicopter. I dont carry insurance on my mtn sleds. Dont have to worry about hitting someone else, and if I wreck it, I fix it.

    2000? That's stupid!

I take you dont take apart engines. You dont measure pistons, cylinders, crankshafts, etc.

We ride in the mountains. Ive blown an engine miles from the trail in 5 feet of bottomless powder. It took 1.5 days of disassembling that sled so that 3 of us were able to pack it out.

Everything on the sleds get inspected before every trip. And engines get torn down every 2000 miles. And while some pistons are usable, they all have enough slop to warrant replacement. And yes, most times I notice a performance increase. Tighter fit, better compression, better horsepower.

Any Polaris rider who paid with taxes over 23,000 for a 1,000 mile motor. Guessing Poo set a limit of like 500 to keep the bleeding to a minimum. Will come back to haunt them. still fun to burn them on stupidity. Name a Poo rider, add it here.

    WTF are you babbling about?

My riding partner spent over $23K on his Boost. All our sleds get pistons around 2,000 miles. Regardless of brand.

But he doesnt come on forums talking shit making himself look like an idiot......

The didn't do what they had to do. Nascar, the owners and sponsors did what they did exactly for the reason you said. Had they'd been white males the only time you would have heard their names called was at the intro, that is if they had made the field.

They marketed their sex, skin color, pop pops money.

If Jimmy fuckin Spencer could market his "fuck you attitude" you damn well know he would to be in nascar.

He’s from Michigan and I have been a fan of his for years…ember when he won I believe Dega in that James Finch ride…I just think he was overly aggressive yesterday especially early in the race when he wrecked Burton.

    Yeah its all good.

I'm not huge on nascar. Because its money/looks/whatever else over talent. So I dont really have any favs or hated drivers.

one of the Dillons is OK and would have a seat i think regadless but Bubba like Danica is only there until the sponsors stop the PCness.  neither are great drivers although Bubba is def far better than Danica was.  Anyone can luck into a win at a super speedway,  will Bubba be one of the 1 hit wonders that were never in the running anywhere else?

There is hundreds of drivers better than 90% of the nascar field. They just haven't figured out how to push their way into nascar.

Stenhouse was in position to win yesterday until Chompers bulldozed him….plus Tony Stewart loves Stenhouse so maybe that helps.👍🏼🤷🏻

    Maybe...

Gotta give Chompers credit. He earned/worked/forced his way to nascar. He then took control of his future. He can do whatever the fuck he wants and will be a pillar in nascar. Even if fans hate him. He is locked in until HE decides he doesnt want to be anymore.

In a way I think you're making it a race issue. Nascar would have ejaculated had a black driver of a black owned team won. I, like many others, am sick of the race card being used in our lives today. The point is Bubba hasn't earned the medias adulation for being a great driver, not by a long shot, it's only because he's black.

I am not a Bubba fan, and IMO he is not a great driver. But he is just doing what he needs to to stay in Nascar. Just like any other driver. Danica stayed in Nascar for as long as she did cuz she was a female. Dillion bros are there cuz of their grandpa. Bubba is there cuz he is black. I got no idea how Stenhouse still has a ride, he must suck some great cock or something.

    There is no difference.

The config in the promo vid doesn't look anything like that rendition so perhaps its a 900 something? I don't understand why a turbo version wouldn't work down low? It has all the necessary protections to prevent det. Wastegate, knock sensor, and some other gizmo that varies the boost level/fuel delivery based on temp, exhaust gas pressure, and altitude. I think it could live down low just fine. Although there may be some disappointment with power delivery not meeting the same expectations as it does up high. But back to my point, I don't see any new stuff coming from Polaris in the area of snowmobile 4S.

The psi of boost would have to be low, like 3 psi.  Thats way out of the efficiency range. The power curve wouldnt be as good.

More boost and you have scrap metal.

If Poo wants to make 180hp at sea level, its cheaper for them to build a BB than to use the turbo 850. They will make more $$$ charging 20K for a 180hp BB than 20K for a  180hp turbo.

  13. 5 hours ago, snoughnut said:

I had a 2009 CFI 800 and apparently Poo's fuel mapping was messed up to meet EPA guidelines. That engine had a 5000 - 5500 rpm lean spot that when you hit that spot on occasion it would act like it was cutting out and at times throw your head over the bars. That lean condition was the cause of most of the problems. Alot of guys had to install Power Commanders to get around the problem or eventually you'd end up with a squeaked piston.

Yes they didnt map software worth a shit. And it sometimes squeaked pistons. But thats not catastrophic. And its easily fixed, which they did.

What is bad is when a chunk of the piston skirt comes off because its unsupported and it grenades the whole engine. Or the cylinder skirt. Because they had both issues, and continued to put bandaids on until the 850.

It's simply an educated guess. Polaris has obviously done tons of R&D with two stroke turbos based on the amount of patents on the US Patent website. Electronically controlled variable boost pressure is one of the patents. There is nothing for 4 strike technology. No way will any company release a product without protecting it with patents. Either actual patents or patent applications.

Here is a pic of a polaris boost engine. image.thumb.png.d0bbf943d3f83964e9e86b4ebee04cf7.pngThat vid of the poo engine has no turbo.

I understand poo wants to maximize their investment, but I just cant see how they can make a low elevation 2 stroke work. The boost right now is close to the edge of needing more than pump gas.

My bud has a boost, and we rode all last week at 9k+ elevation. It would get moderate DET while in break in mode. Once the added oil break in was done the DET stopped. And its not like the sled used alot of oil even on break in mode. He used less than my Axys 800.

Now someone puts a tune on them ( and tunes are coming soon) at low elevation.....I doubt it would make it WOT for more than 5 seconds.

  15. 2 hours ago, spin_dry said:

That’s a two stroke turbo. Polaris has oodles of patents surrounding turbo two stroke technology.

Can you point out where the turbo is in that vid?

I have a hard time believing Poo or any manufacturer would put a 3lbs boost or less turbo, on a 2 stroke snowmobile to be ridden at 1000 ft elevation.

exactly,  i am headed north Friday and prob will be under 10 if i take the trailer.

First time I towed a 29' enclosed sled trailer with 3 sleds in it I got 7.9mpg on interstate at 70-75 mph.

I stopped checking towing mpg after that.

Sure you can.  Both have been improving in trucks for quite some time.  Twin turbos, variable valve timing, cylinder deactivation, 10 speed transmissions, aluminum bodies, etc.  375HP, 470 ft-lb of torque, and low 20s mpg.

    3.5L EcoBoost® V6

If you're looking for an engine that delivers the best-in-class tow rating for the Ford F-150, then the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine is the right choice for you. Listed below are the key engine specs for this powerful option.
