is it time for a price discussion... and I'm starting with Cat only because I saved the pricing from a couple years ago.

looking at the 2024 ZR 8000 RR 137 which is basically a bng sled... https://arcticcat.txtsv.com/snowmobile/trail-utility/zr-rr

that's a 21% increase over MSRP and a 50% increase over snowmageddon pricing for an unchanged model.

sure, materials and labor have increased since 2020... and it looks like the 2020 MY was the time to buy.

    snowmaggedon 2020.jpg

My 2019 & 2020 800-RR were the same money from my dealer. My 2021 800-RR was about $800 more, so not terrible. But now....... WTF.....

What's sad (or great depending on which side of the equation you are on) is that people who bought them can now sell them for what they were brand new. I can tell you I know 2 of my previous sleds have been resold by the person who bought them from me for MORE than they paid me for them at the end of the first season--- when it was safe to sell in the spring and know you were getting the new one in the fall.....

Also, you may not get it til February 2024. :lolz:

THIS ^^^^^ is what I am most concerned about. I'll be ordering at least 1. Being "just" a 6 the first year doesn't matter to me since I always have an 8 and a 6 (this year a 650) anyways. But I'm concerned WHEN we will get them based on the past 2 seasons and issues getting sleds out .... I want to have time to ride it to get the chassis figures out. Not get it and have it sit around all summer like last year's 600 did......

One thing for sure..... I won't be selling either of the current sleds until the Catalyst is ACTUALLY at my dealer... not going to be one of those guys not able to ride because my sled isn't in yet and I sold my previous one..... Going to take a few years of sled being delivered consistently on time before I change my mind on that after the past couple of years

Interesting, I've known many people with ProCross sleds over the years, Cat and Yamaha, owned a 12 F800 and 14 Viper XTX myself, put good miles on both, never had either get hot. Don't know anyone that overheated outside of a higly modified F1100 Turbo. The 160HP Zuke 800 is a motor ive put 7K miles on between two sleds, a 2010 F8 and 2012 F800, never had any type of temp issue or know anybody that did.

I guess there is a difference between running hot and over heating. I've also never "overheated" one either. Whether stock or modified.

But almost everyone I know have had issues with them running hot and needing to run scratchers and occasionally had to pull over and let them cool off. Much more often than the other brands riding with us......

How do you like your VR1 650?  Not trying to derail the thread...do you have a link to a thread expounding your thoughts?  I spent some time on an XC 850 this past weekend. Very fun sled!

I do not yet. Just trying to get out of break in.... only 92 miles so far. I will post something once / if I get more time on it....

I've also had two ProCross machines and never had any issues with overheating.

I've had 16 ProCross sleds. At least 1 of every year up until the 2023 when I decided enough of the same old same old...with a bigger price tag. Only 1 of these never flashed the temp light..... 2015 4000 LXR (500cc 2 stroke).  And the 14 6RR, 17 Roger Skime, 19 6-LTD 137 rarely would unless the conditions were really hard packed / low snow. The rest were 800s in 129 or 137. And all run warm and could use scratchers to aid in cooling when conditions weren't great. And, as others have said, mounting further ahead on the skid does seem to help get more snow up into the tunnel and on the coolers. Of the 800s I have had, the 12 F8LTD was the worst for running warm, even after doing the flat tunnel update. Followed by the 15 RR 129 with a 920 Dakota big bore. And the 20, 21, & 22 RRs have been the best at maintaining "normal" temps while riding.

  7. Same here @Bontz .... most places I ride I know and have ridden for most of my life. When I used to use my Garmin Nuvi, it was simply to track my rides and save them. Same pretty much for this 7S..... at least so far.

And I agree, my major need for any gauge is engine vitals and fuel level........but this is a nice unit. Especially for OEM. The NS1 I use on the Cats excellent, but the integration with this one is better IMHO. Luckily for me, it was the "standard" gauge on my VR1.... so I didn't "SEE" that $1000 cost :lol2:

PS--- never did get out to the sled today....today slipped away doing wiring in the attic for house renovations............ so will have to try for tomorrow to try to hot spot connection ......

  8. Bontz,

I think I found my mistake that lead me to asking if you knew how to get tracked rides from the 7s to the phone.... I had connected my phone via blue tooth and had blue tooth tethering on....but never connected the 7s via my phone's hot spot. Somewhere I had either read or watched a video that made me think blue tooth tether would provide a data connection to do this. And thought that needing the hot spot connection was only for group rides with those without a 7s.... However, I think the hot spot connection is needed to transfer ride info between the 7s and phone. I will try this out in the AM and report back.

The guys gotta be on some sort of watch list at this point for how much time he spends in different countries 😂

I talked to him a few weeks back about any good tcat parts he may have laying around and then I realized a 1998 Thundercat was at least 78 sleds ago for him.

Sadly, I've been to more foriegn countries than US states at this point.....and there are only 11 states I haven't been to yet.....

And, although I never owned a T-cat of any year...... YES, anything I had 1998 would have been at least 78 sleds ago..........

you and @taperk600 should give them your fix lists on the 12's & 13's

I will say Kale put an impressive list together. I'll also say here (and already did there) show us the sales #'s for ZR's from 2012 until 2022, my bet is they've done nothing but decrease.

I couldn't list the number of parts broke / replaced on my 12..... not quite as many on the 13 because it had the (shitty geometry) "RR" skid... but other places still failed.

Kale did do a good job on that list, but there were a couple mistakes and a lot of redundancy in listing "updates" .... and a few things missed too.... but I'm not getting into what's right/wrong/missing. Just don't care enough. After 16 ProCross sleds, I'm done with it ...... As good as it is, FINALLY, it's time for the excuses to stop from Textron and the new chassis to come out.

having had a 2012, 2014 x2 , 2016 , and a 2022 procross I can say the 2014 still wasn't right , and the 2016 was drastically better driveline wise but lost its top end compared to my 12 800.

2022 with the adapt clutches is awesome. I'm planning on putting the adapt setup on my 16 frankensled.

Agree.... the 14 was the 1st real step to "fix" the issues, but in my 10000% honest opinion, it wasn't until 16s & 17s that the chassis was "right" and after the front end improvements in 2020, the sled hasn't changed enough.... except for the new primary... that DOES work

Which team you headed towards Tom?

Depends on what I find over the summer. just missed a good deal on the 22 850 XCR 136 with 2200 miles on it over in VT....for just over $13k.... Did order a 650 VR1 137 day 1 to make sure I have it coming .....know a few people who are extremely happy with the 650. Most say it reminds them of the F7 motor.....

When it shows up, I'll decide if I'm taking it or not...... Again, depends on what I do / find over the summer...........

It means after the last 3 years being the same sled with nothing but higher prices and BNGs, and 16 in total, I'm ready for a change. And I'm tired of the excuses from Textron. Poo & Doo have brought new product the last 2 years, so stop with the excuses .............

There’s probably gonna be 15-20 new part numbers on the new cats this year according to someone with solid information..

The number just depends on how intricate the new graphics are.

    anything new to report @taperk600?

    No.

Waiting for time on the track dyno....but they are crazy busy so it's on the back burner right now.

I did do this today however..........getting rid of all the green plastics (and those hideous white skis) .... and ready for the wrap....... Went with the layout on the clutch side. Should look good with the RS windshield.....

Truth is, I think you’d be lucky to get a 800/850 sled with much more than 150hp out of the box.

Agree with the manufacturers' break-in programming ........ I agree out-of-the-box power is 140-150 across the board.  With Cat being on the lower end of that scale with the smaller displacement
