  1. You're saying the average cruiser bike customer can easily mimic the loading a snowmobile driveline sees hammering thru whoops, chatter bumps, clearing approaches, etc?
  2. I was referring to the shock loads a sled see vs a big v twin cruiser or touring type bike
  3. Very different use case. Now if moto x bikes ran them successfully I'd say you have a valid point.
  4. How many good cat engineers, etc left under her leadership? Brian Dick Wes Selby Joey Hallstrom And many more
  5. If the top sprocket is adjustable enough to compensate for a gearing change then the angle the jackshaft changes due to it only being adjusted on 1 side will be significant enough to throw the secondary and top sprocket out of square from the primary clutch and the bottom sprocket. Refer to this exagerated diagram.
  6. So the eccentric isn't really an adjuster? what good does very little movement do? Sounds like they'd have been better off with a fixed belt drive center....time will tell.
  7. If true, it Sounds like the eccentric adjuster is pointless, what good is an ever so slight adjustment? I guess I need to see it in person to understand. Anyone know if polaris has a patent around their fixed belt drive system? If so it could explain why cat added an adjuster that ever so slightly adjusts the top sprocket.....just a work around for a fixed center system? Its fun to be curious
  8. You have a fixed engine centerline and a fixed drive shaft centerline and the jackshaft has the ability to be adjusted...ugh, I'm very curious to see this set up in person and hear how it works in thousands of average consumers hands. Furthermore I fail to see the advantage of this system over the polaris system which has a fixed position.
  9. If this is true it seems wild to me the engine placement can be manipulated by the eccentric on the top drive sprocket!
  10. How does the TCL compensate for an angled jackshaft? The diagram below is obviously extremely exaggerated but it paints the picture in my head of the misalignment.
  11. I'm imaging a roughly 2' long jackshaft fixed on 1 end (driven clutch side), and the eccentric on the opposite side. If I adjust 1 side and not the other its easy to imagine the angle change as its magnified quite a bit that further it gets away from The adjustment mechanism. How does this not throw the secondary off at an angle from the engine and primary clutch?
  12. I am anxious to see the belt drive adjustment in person. I have so many questions, is the eccentric adjuster on both side of the jackshaft? If not. How does the system handle the angular misalignment of the sprockets? What about the same angular misalignment on the clutch side? Maybe a non issue if the complete jackshaft, top sprocket and secondary clutch all move together. If not, I'm curious how the whole system will play out durability wise. Its no secret that belts don't do well with misalignment.
  13. I see it both ways. He sold his business and ideas to polaris. He worked for them until 2020, he has insider knowledge about the business and such. It feels like he's double dipping in a sense. If he wanted to own a snowbike business he shouldn't have sold to begin with. On the other hand, if he fulfilled his contract and there's no non-compete or other such agreements then he should be free to do as he pleases. I can see how its easy to pick sides here but until all the facts are out who is to know who is right and wrong here?
  14. I like cats, I don't own one and likely never will but I like competition and another brand for consumers to choose from. It dumsatd and stinki weren't so foolishly blinded and didn't regurgitate marketing language as the next coming of christ I'd likely never respond to this or any cat bashing thread on this site.
  15. You sound like a buffoon that blindly regurgitates marketing material that meets your liking. You have little to no ability to think freely, field questions and absorb facts that state something out of your set of beliefs.
  16. What is this belt drive updated from? Its new to cat on a production sled!? How does 1 quantify less rolling friction while test riding it? Are those the same testers who stated the gen 1 800 meets emissions?
  17. Yet cats marketing material i posted states the gen 1 meets emissions. You are too far down your own rabbit hole to see the truth right on front of you that cat themselves pushed on the gen 1 800. On the ragged edge of meeting it?? Hell, if it meets it why redesign it? Thats a very poor business decision. And now they are soon going to obsolete that motor again.
  18. In the gen 1 post showing cat marketing material it states that the gen 1 800 meets tier 3 epa regs. To redesign it 2 yts later is redundant. To claim it was redesigned for emissions doesn't jive when cat claimed the gen 1 meets emissions. The janitor is now a reputable source for you?
  19. So cat lied about the gen 1 800 ctec? What else do they lie about? So if cat spent 12 yrs developing a dirty 800, replaced it 2 yrs later with a clean 800 and now is planning to replace it with a bigger engine then its safe to say we know why textron needed to bail them out before they went bankrupt.
  20. I posted 2 images of marketing material from Cat regarding 800 ctec emissions, you still think the gen 2 800 changes are over emissions. You clearly are the one drinking spew.
  21. Cat didnt think emissions was hard to meet with the gen 1 ctec 800. No hate or obsession on cat, just busting balls on the few cat lovers here who are so blinded with green they can't see past there own brands flaws and recognize cat has become a me too company on many fronts. Much of the tech these guys ejaculate over is just nothing more than cats spin on existing tech....they just can't see that.
  22. Thanks, this is what I had thought in regards to the ctec setup. A few "in the know" cat loyalists on here will be surprised to learn this.
  23. The non parallel, variable caster a arm suspension polaris patented? The 1 that was very different from the AWS suspension cat used at the time? Does cat offer anything similar to this now? What year did cat 1st offer it?
