Without the Turbo, both engines are losing alot of power at elevation. 30lbs is arguable...some will say its alot, some will say it's not...but the point isn't so much overall weight, its power loss at elevation. Above 4000 feet the powerloss is significant. The Turbo 600 will still make its 140HP (or whatever it is), while the 650 will drop well below that, and the 850 will drop down to about 140-150. If they weigh the same, give me the 600 Turbo, its a much cheaper sled and I am getting the same performance as the 850 without a snail. And, I'm not leaning the fuck out of my engine screaming it at 4000 feet. Lots of Mountain riders put a little oil in their gas tank. Trail riding though, is a completely different animal all together.

Hey I'm as interested in real world wet weights as anybody. One of the things I really liked about my Can Am Defender was how open, proud and transparent BRP was about the numbers, they listed dry weights, HP and TQ numbers for all of the Defenders.I really wish all sled manufactures would do the same thing.

I realize the Polaris and Ski-Doo owners think 185-220HP is alot. The only thing I seen was a 220HP Boost race a 260HP Sidewinder and the Boost got waxed badly.

A motor that maxes out at 220HP isn't smacking down anything.

It's more of an elevation thing and not much to do with trail performance, although thats how it will end up. When Polaris released the Turbo Mountain sled, it wasn't really so much to add power, but to keep the HP numbers near 100% when riding at 2000, 4000, 6000 feet above sea level. At 4000 feet I believe you lose like 15% of your HP, something along those lines. Then shortly after, they tweaked it for trail performance. I think its a great fucking idea, it keeps the lighter 600 mill in there, which is critical for Mountain riding, adds some power and makes it so it don't lose power. Even if they only get 15-20 more HP, which is all your getting on a 900R or Boost, it will still make a big difference, especially at peak RPM. With the CTEC II 600 having a strengthened 800 crank, I think its a perfect candidate for a small snail. A super light M600 Catalyst, normal and Alpha skid, with a 140 HP Turbo 600 I think would be a good combo. Edit: To add I would love to see cat have 3 if not 4 engine options. Normal 600, Turbo 600, Normal 860, Turbo 860.

Doo's sell super cheap. They don't pull more or less then the competition, its an average sled with average reliabilty.

Thats not true at all. 998's can sell for 10K with 10K miles or more, they have incredible resale vale. Even the vaunted Apex will pull 5-6K for a nice one with low miles and a 128/136 track. The only higher mile sleds not worth anything are usually two-strokes, as shown above in several posts.
