Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Posted April 1, 2018 Share Posted April 1, 2018 President Donald Trump said Sunday that a deal to restore the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, also known as “DACA,” is off the table. In a series of tweets, the president claimed “ridiculous liberal laws” are exacerbating illegal immigration because they prevent Border Patrol agents from properly doing their jobs. Trump also instructed congressional Republicans to use the “nuclear option” to pass “tough laws” immediately. Trump’s comments come after he, for months, showed willingness to work with congressional Democrats and compromise on immigration reform. In exchange for a DACA deal, Trump simply asked for a border wall and more border security. However, a deal never made its way through Congress. Any additional details? It isn’t clear what spurred Trump’s change.
