  1. This is the longest in US history the yield curve has been inverted.  Typically, interest rates are higher for longer terms, think a 36 month car loan vs an 84 month car loan.  Recently, the 3 month yield has been higher than the 10 year yield.  Any yield curve inversion is typically followed by a recession.  The longer and deeper the inversion, the worse the recession.

It's delusional to think we just have a soft landing and the economy never contracts.  The plant closures, layoffs, and hiring freezes will continue.

Got shit from my one supervisor once for casually drinking coffee on company time and being a bad influence on the rookies and new hires.  I just ignored and rolled my eyes on that one.

At our site we have one of the automatic machines that grinds the beans and brews coffee or espresso.  It's a productivity improver.  We bring a similar but smaller machine to trade shows.  Not much brings people together like a good cup of coffee.

At the corporate offices it's over $3 for a drip brew so I bring my own thermos.  If I ran the place, coffee, tea, and soda would all be free.

    are there free refills?

No free refills but it's next to the Spirit gates so always plenty of free entertainment!

Finally broke down and got myself a Keurig coffee maker.... finding myself getting a little too lazy to hop in car and pick up my morning coffee lately.   Convenience and cheaper as well.

I buy 2 or 3 pound bags at Costco and grind it in the store.  It's probably 50 cents per pot.  Take it in a thermos to work.  Keurig is fine if you only drink a cup a day.

Charging an EV vs filling with gas also offers huge savings but varies by state.  My state for example EV drivers save $2200 a year when compared to a gas vehicle.  Do combined with maintenance and repair savings and fuel saving it’s a no brainer financially speaking.

Idaho has the highest savings — up to $2200 per year  where less fuel-efficient vehicles are common along with high gas prices and cheap electricity.

Created by Argonne National Laboratory, researchers found that no matter where you live in the country, you will save driving an electric vehicle.

One advantage I see is every time I leave home my "tank" would be full.  I don't like having to stop on the way for fuel.  Kind of a hassle to get into Sam's or Costco.  I think it's $0.04/kWh here with an off-peak EV meter.

credit 'score' also effects your auto insurance rates... 9_9

They say that but I don't know how much they actually use it.  I checked with my agent before I froze my credit and they said not to do that.  I've changed carriers multiple times since then and no one seems to have any issues with frozen credit.

For sure. The 8 year warranty should offer piece of mind but the potential is there.

Many of the newer gasser engines being squeezed hard for horsepower and efficiency are problematic and the warranty is no where near the Tesla battery.

    Plus one for Tesla.

I'd own one if I could justify another vehicle....and would not expect my friends an neighbor to pick up part of the cost.

That's my only issue with all things green, the grift.

My next car will probably be a used Model 3 Long Range AWD.  I just use it for going to town and back and commuting to work.  Any long distance trips is usually with my truck going up north.  Or we could take my wife's Explorer.  Just waiting for the EV market to totally crash and my Focus to completely rot apart.

I’ve had the same credit card for 25 years. That’s probably what’s holding me back. Zero debt and one lonely credit card. Now a Home Depot card.
6 more cards and I’ll have perfect score.

The industry hates people like you.

Lack of debt or loan payment history is the reason for a lower credit rating.  That is fact.

It's "Credit" rating not a financial well being.  It's a gauge on your ability to pay back a loan

Yup, but the marketing of the financial industry has brainwashed the poors into thinking a credit score is some great achievement they need to chase.  The real catch is the only way to get that high score is to do business with the big banks.

Watching your accounts and what/where transactions are on them is a better way.

Watch your accounts and then freeze your credit at the 3 bureaus so no one can open new accounts with your info.  The quicker you catch those fraud accounts, the easier they will be to sort out.

Here is my actual FICO score.  VantageScore isn't what the banks use, it just tries to approximate a FICO score.

    They needed a study?

Anyone who has owned a higher end Krautmobile could have answered this for them.

It is surprising how close the lower number manufacturers are.

I am slightly confused though at the 10 year numbers.

I find it difficult to believe the Tesla at 10 years does not need a battery. That would throw them much closer to the high end of the spectrum IMO.

The Tesla warranty is almost 10 years long on the battery.  Without a major repair like a drive motor or battery there just isn't as much mechanical on the Tesla to go wrong.

These new direct injected turbocharged engines with 10+ speed transmissions aren't cheap to fix either.

I know what some of our power plants PAID for gas this week and it definitely wasn't zero or less than.

I am not finding a lot of specific information on this.

I think there is a very localized issue as maybe the producers want to get rid of the gas to quickly shift focus to the more lucrative oil. Take a quick loss for bigger profits. Natural gas in the country is still far from free.

Oil is high so they keep on drilling.  Natural gas comes with the oil whether they want it or not.

I just picked up a 5 quart jug of pennzoil ultra platinum for $21. Made from natural gas. Cheapest I’ve ever paid. Best oil on the market.

Where was that at?  I bought some the other day that was around $25 for a 5 quart jug and I bought it in a 3 pack.

Use it in my wife's Ecoboost.  Think I went 10k on the last change.  Want to change it at more like 5k but get busy and lose track.

Reminds me of the time I blew the bump stops apart on the rear suspension of @X2700 's XCR.

  12. You will see less and less diesels in the light and medium duty markets.  The emissions, cost, complexity, and reliability will push more of those applications to spark ignition engines.  Already seeing it with the Ford 7.3L gas and the new Cummins X10 fuel-agnostic platform.

    Quote

    ABOUT THE FUEL AGNOSTIC PLATFORM
The engine is built on Cummins’ fuel agnostic platform. These new fuel-agnostic engine platforms feature a series of engine versions that are derived from a common base engine, which means they have some parts commonality. Below the head gasket of each engine will largely have similar components and above the head gasket will have different components for different fuel types. Each engine version will operate using a different, single fuel.

Cummins is offering a full portfolio of products in 2026 to cover the medium-duty and heavy-duty customer needs, including the new 15-liter natural gas engine, the X15N. Additionally, the B6.7 will be offered in diesel, natural gas, gasoline and propane.
