It might just be me but is anyone else super confused as to why gas cans are a thing on trail sleds now? If you can’t find a gas station within the first 12 gallons what in the fuck is an extra 1.5-2 gonna help?

I still wear my Polaris Sizzler mittens that I bought in 1990.  They’re black and I think they’d match perfectly.

What I don’t have is the black Polaris jacket and bibs with green pinstripes to match the 1983 440 Sport, which looked like an elTigre.  That stuff is long gone.

I remember that sled. Direct drive.

I've been watching Marketplace more than anything else (I looked at Craigslist a week ago).  And I have a call into the Cat dealer about the Thundercat, just to get a realistic price.  Before I jump the gun though, I need to man up and go to this new Polaris dealer I got forced into, and talk with someone and make sure the deposit I placed doesn't come back to me as some bullshit merchandise gift card or whatever.  I haven't stepped foot into the dealership yet, so my first visit may be my last.  That said, I would be ecstatic if they told me my sled was on a truck, and scheduled to be here this month ... because I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited about the 650 XCR.  But that Thundercat sure is calling my name if Polaris can't deliver. I figure if I can get into it for $19K I should be able to sell it for $25K the way this market is!!!

@Ziemann - still waiting here, unfortunately.  I was told my sled is built, and waiting on shipping - but I seem to have read that from multiple people & they've been waiting for over a month.  I'm supposed to be headed up north next week, and the following weekend too, so I'm hoping for a belated Christmas Miracle LOL

On the ski shim topic ... easiest way to see if it's needed, or not, is to put your sled on a lift or at least get the front end off the ground.  If the skis are pointing downwards (which I bet they are), you'll wanna shim it.  I had Bergstrom's at one point and kept the shims but they went with my 2019 XC ... so my 2021, I just cut down an old piece of hyfax to fit between the rubber boot and ski.  I'm sure you can/will get it shimmed, but if you have questions just ask here.

I though on FB you said you rode Sawyer Co? Borrowed sled?

I don't care for gauntlets but like you my hands would get cold when it was below zero so I always cared a set of Ski-Doo soft gauntlets in the storage compartment of the sled.  Get cold would put them on and take them off later in the day.   Last year had a Polaris VR1 with smart hand warmers that you have 3 setting you could adjust and that worked well that I didn't need the to use the gauntlets.  Set the high setting to 150F so when my hands started to get cold would turn them to high and once my hands warmed up would turn them back to medium

Did you ever have those smart warmers recalibrated by your dealer. There was something about that floating around last year.
