The water skipping thing is one I really don't understand.

I just think to myself "You know, you don't have to do this.  Jet skis are a thing.  People do race them."

Like the enduro last man standing ones are cool with old beater sleds as an exhibition thing once a year but actually taking that seriously is wild to me

i was just gonna ask if anyone has seen the prices. i had a guy come in with a pilot on a trailer. showroom condition, looked never ridden. he paid 8k

That sounds fairly cheap. My grandfathers “neighbor” is from down in Long Island but has a house up north, his 80x100 barn is full of old Hondas, wheelers, ATCs, 250/350 Odysseys and Pilots. He’s got an 86 ATC 250R that probably has 5 hours on it, I got it running for him one summer when I was up there working for my grandfather and rode it a few times, him and his son were both terrified of it. He wanted to trade my dads fourtrax straight across for it but my dad wouldn’t let me, he sold the fourtrax for like 1200 bucks a year later….

saw that... grass draggers and water crossers.   :lolz:

did you notice what's missing from the list?

    The 4000 series?

Watercross guys should have to pay over retail. Nothing screams repressed homosexuality quite like bolting the rail directly to the front arm mount point and taking your seat and muffler off to do four 3 lap races a day around a 1/2 acre pond.

    Went from a 2015 Cat 700 XT to a 2019(?) Sportsman 850.

That Cat was a very good machine, but that Sportsman is way ahead of that Cat.

It is a shame they axed pretty much the entire dirt team out of St. Cloud.  It was a pretty passionate and smart group.

2012ish-textron was the only time Cat was really in the dirt game in my opinion. They offered some really decent machines at good price points then. Even my 08 prowler was a good unit for what it was, fucker would go through anything if you had the diff locked, just had to keep a pile of starter solenoids in the glovebox.

Ours lived a hard life, sat outside most of the time.  I used it for years around my property before buying a new Rancher.

I have 3 machines now, 88 Fourtrax 300 2x4, 2020 Rancher 420 4x4 solid axle, and a 2023 Sportsman 850.  When I need to drag my driveway, spray weeds, fertilize, or aerate the lawn, guess which one I pick?

Since I have the Sportsman now, this trailer is permanently hooked up to the Rancher.  The sprayer stays on my Fourtrax now.

My dad and uncle both had 4wd early 90s units, my dad sold his probably 10 years ago now but my uncle has his still. Sits next to the shed hardly ever moves but always starts first kick. I changed the oil for him a couple years ago and maybe half a quart came out, still runs like a top and doesn’t smoke a bit. I always had XRs growing up even when I had my CRs, we pulled an 82-84 XR 250 out of the woods behind my dads buddies house where it had sat for probably 15 years changed the oil cleaned the carb and fresh gas and rode it for years until a carney bought it when the county fair was in town. Saw that bike at the fair for 4 or 5 years after too 😂

Cat launches a new sled, once per decade.

    We're #3 in sales...

a bit OT... but where does Honda (who once owned the bulk of the ATV market) stack up today?

idk, as I don't follow anything dirt related.

Honda fucked themselves building the Fourtrax 300, anyone who bought one of those will never have to buy another 4 wheeler in their lifetime.

In all reality almost everyone knows someone with a fourtrax that has been neglected for the last 30 years and still runs like a top, arguably the greatest off road product ever built.

    BRP is the only one?

No one predicted this shitty winter.

The production cut will include leftovers in its factor.

BRP has been at the top for 20 years with this leadership.

No polaris too. The writing was on the wall as soon as the used toy market was flooded and the bubble popped. There’s still a fuck ton of 23 leftovers out there too, BRP was still trying to push more units down their dealers throats a month and a half ago.

8 or 9 months ago I watched the CEO of BRP being interviewed on BNN. He was pounding his chest with glee as he stated all was good with sled production and sales. Said the clientele is on the higher end of the food chain and a slowdown would affect them minimally. I LMAO as weeks prior their were non current sleds sitting in the local dealer's yard. And even more after this winter. They also have non current Sea Doos. Times have changed

Nobody on the higher end of the food chain (money or brains) would ride a cat polaris and ski doo and buy the doo

I don't think they were ever completely sold out.  However, there were a lot of people who walked away from a spring order.  The public will never know how many, so maybe it was just one guy who lost his job at Walmart.  But, we shouldn't assume there wasn't any.  I think there were more than we realize.

A LOT of people backed out of snow checks this year with the dollar not being worth the paper it’s printed on. Usually a good winter would produce in season sales but obviously that didnt happen either.

    I've been busy lately....

Is this recall #2 for the boost fuel line leak...

About 7,000 (In addition, about 3,100 were sold in Canada)

That is 10,100 boost sleds built in 2 years (for jimwit, who can't do the math)

@Palu49 how many catalyst did AC build this year?

Slightly more than Canadian unit boosts and that was across all of NAFTA  🥴

Technically, he claimed he's "cheap", so technically, you ought to be able to acquire it for a steal....:dunno:

No I’m cheap in a “anything you own is junk and you should really pay me to take it. Anything I own is worth top dollar and perfect how dare insult me with a lowball offer” sort of way

That’s about $500 of biscuits, I’m thinking I ought to find out just how much Palu is willing to shell out for this relic....:pc:

Very little, that’s why I don’t have a 2000 SP yet. They’re impossible to find and even harder for cheap fucks like me. I could probably offer your biscuit money back and a Benjamin, but if there’s any treats left from Mikuni you have to drop them with the sled for Jax and Nala. They don’t actually guard anything but they bark and have pointy ears so they look and sound like they’ll bite.
