Crappy day for some stock testing on Tuesday .......... high 40s, pouring rain, crap air quality........ but with all things being equal, seeing about the same as we had been seeing with the Cat Ctec2 800 the past 2 years......
1st chart is all stock, just out of the rev limiter and in full break-in
2nd chart is after more run time, still in break-in but less added fuel (still full added oil)
3rd chart is with Bullseyes, D&D stock reflash (still in break-in).
So on this day, with these crappy weather conditions, we saw the additional airflow and better mapping gave us +/- 10 hp

Excited to hear more feedback about the new clutch as the season goes. Sleeper change for 22?
I am very interested to see how these perform also. Found a couple questionable internals so far but it looks like the primary could be much more efficient over past ones.
Not sure on a sleeper......basically doing the same as I've done on my 20 & 21..... with a few improvements found along the way...... full exhaust, breathers, head mod, ECU adjustments, etc........... get into the 170s and I'll be okay. Don't need the 180s like my 18 and 19 were....... -

Looking forward to what @taperk600 posts ... he's definitely one of the "good guys" when it comes to this stuff. I hope you get the results (or better) that you're expecting, Tom!!
Thanks Bontz. Not so much looking for anything different than the 20 or 21 as far as results. More looking at what's different. So far, zip on the motor. Numbers are following the same as the past 2 seasons. But the new clutches will be....... track dyno will show if they are better or not. Shop already located a couple areas to focus on, etc.

Just remember, a good dishonest dyno operator can give you the results you are looking for, whether you want great bragging numbers, or piss poor ones, cause you hate the brand. LOL
And these are the comments that result in guys not sharing their knowledge......
I'm not looking for any bragging rights, specific numbers, or anything else. And I have zero reason to share what we find with anyone here.BTW---- the dyno "operator" is a friend who I have known 30+ yrs. And I have know the shop he is at for my whole life.....and they have a terrific reputation. No reason for anyone to distort what we find. But also need to remember every dyno is different. And every day on the dyno is different from any other. Different air temps, densities, etc...... it's all just a snap shot of that day and time......

I get it, but they're enjoyable threads, great information, a plug for D&D and frankly this place needs it - rather than HCS
We'll see............
Never know what might happen.....

Welcome back T
New ride at D&D yet? The Cat forum here could use some beta with the baseline to done hp/Dyno upgrade info if you want to start a fresh thread.
Either Monday or Tuesday depending on the weather.....
Not sure I'll be posting any dyno stuff.........too much of an ass ache for free information. Let the keyboard jackasses pay for it themselves

@taperk600is almost ready to go up there, I sucked all the ctec2 oil out of the tank and filled it right full of fresh Klotz so it’s race ready for him.
And I see you pulled the seat off for weight reduction too........better have snagged that battery out too while you were at it !!

it gets cold AF here
Seem to recall @taperk600 (another NY'er and owner of every PC chassis made) tested a bunch of different windshields a while back on a lake and the mid-height produced the highest top speed. the cross country racers use them to kick air over them and stay warm. our torsos and heads are nothing but big parachutes, but short shields look cool.
Correct
Mid-sized like what comes on the LTD models--- which is very very similar to the "Cross country" race sled style that isn't available on any consumer sled....except the CC one has a bit more angle at the out lip to push more air up and around the body of the driver.
The touring mid and tall are like a window in front of you.....keep the rider warm....especially the tall

just like that... it was over.
rumor has it we have a club up this way that's calling it quits. 14 people in the club, 3 do the work and no one else is contributing is the story I've heard. the old guys are hanging up their hats and the younger folks aren't picking up the slack. sadly, this seems to be the direction this sport is heading like many other 'volunteer organizations'.Yes sir...... the ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME mentality of today is something else.......
Hey, maybe Biden will give us government snow and government grooming and government trail marking and.....oh wait...... we aren't illegals.......we get shit ..........

How about doing your normal D&D mods to one of these @taperk600 - sleeper
https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/2-up-touring-utility/models/transporter-800Wanna know the scary part........ I actually thought the same thing........ right up until I saw it was a 153.........
My thought..... I have a set of front QS3-Rs and a set of Evol-Xs --- so the front is covered. Depending on what the skid was, I probably have adjustables for there too.... then I saw the ONE FIVE THREE.....and the idea sank............

if there's a diamond hiding in the Cat/Yamaha relationship it's that it helps keep a few folks in TRF employed. on that note though, why is there only one YamaCat in Textrons line up?
Makes you wonder if Yami only allows Cat to have the motor in 1 sled so not to impact their own line up and sales numbers ?
Yami has the SRX...Cat has the T-Cat............ HOWEVER
Yami has a turbo "RR" in the L-TX LE
And Yami has the turbo "RIOT" in the X-TX
AND Yami has the turbo touring sled.....
Sleds some Cat guys have been asking for....
SO.... is it Yami or Cat keeping these sleds on the Yami side of the fence ????
Also strange the the SRX doesn't have the power steering option....it's only on the L-TX GT

Yeah people make it seem like more Yamahas is bad for cat. Or ripping cat off or something. Like when the mountain max came out. They're all cats so who cares? The more the better imo.
I was hoping to see them extend the 2 strokes into the trail segment and not just the mountain max this year.......was hoping it would have better looking colors....... not the case.......
-
@Crnr2Crnr..... does sound like the "only available the Polaris Race Team" Cross Country has the tipper rails and not the XCR
-
So..... has anyone been able to confirm whether or not the 2022 XCRs have the tipped 136 rails ?????
Looking between a 650 XCR 136 or a VR1 137......be nice to know about the rails on the 136....
-
At least they won't be battle shit charcoal grey ..... And they have a few models Cat guys want...... the RIOT 998 Turbo for 1. Or at least did in 2021........
Maybe this is Cat's plan all along.... build up Yami so they can produce more for them .... while killing off Cat's numbers so they don't have the responsibility to develop new products..............

I find it absurd as well. I've owned more Cats than the other brands and would again if they would make a new sled I want to own.
Did a quick count tonight..... I got 63 Cats that I have owned.....and I probably missed a couple.......
This year.........well...... All I got is it was a sad sad sad sad sad 60th release....

Spending a day riding a Matryx next week. Definitely not a DOO..... Maybe a RR and a VR1 or XCR ???
Or maybe even really stir things up and take next year off...........I can honestly say I haven't missed not having a sled since selling mine almost a month ago........- 1

That was the point of that........ The XCR is pretty much a given. As is the turbo for the MNT guys....
Price increases and delays on deliveries........well.... we saw what happened this year with some of the deliveries.........
HHMMMM......wonder what we will find this time........
