Well, I think I'm pulling the trigger on the 6.2 GMC tomorrow.  The sales guy I had been working with called me yesterday, and ironed out the final details - the only thing I'm not thrilled with is it's more than I really want.  I was looking for a SLT in silver, but they didn't have any silver SLT's on the lot - and couldn't locate one for a dealer trade.  So I went with the satin steel (darker silver) but it's coming in the Denali package.  As it worked out, the price was almost identical to the Lariat I had built to order.  I'm excited, but still kinda shaking my head at myself on the whole "wants vs. needs" topic .... I certainly didn't NEED this but I want a new truck!

I'm going to buy one of the fuel controller plug-ins to disable the AFM, because I don't like that cylinder shutdown bullshit.  I think that actually contributes to what @Ez ryderwas referring to with the extra oil burn on GM's.  Knocking on wood I'm not kicking myself in the ass down the road, and going back to my local Ford dealer with my tail between my legs.

    Happy New Year fellas

The silver looks good with sleds in the pic.  Those are my winter tires and rims from a 2015 GMC

  2. We have one couple that are true Arctic Cat rides.  When he went to buy a new sled from his normal dealer that is a multi-brand dealer it was his dealer that steered him away from Arctic Cat. He kept his turbo and has a new Ski-Doo for this year.  I hope Arctic Cat stays around.  Wouldn't be good for the sport to only have 2 manufacturers.

  3. My 2020 GMC 1500 pulls everything I want it to pull with a 5.3 but I have the HD trailer package with 3:42 gears.  I haven't pulled our 4 place trailer with it as we haven't used it for a couple seasons yet.  A 6.2 would pull better obviously.

Friend of mine owns a body shop and when they work on a Ford aluminum box it a little different animal to work on to keep contamination away from the aluminum prepping and painting them. If it's not done right the paint will fall off.  Guess the key here is don't damage the box.  I'm sure both the Ford and GM trucks will work fine.  Take dealer support also into consideration.

Mikuni rectangle fuel pump rebuild kit via Cat: $33.95.  Via the Denny Kirk: $3.98.

If Cat has them.  Worked on a real nice 95 Thundercat that needed fuel pumps.  No rebuild kits available or fuel pumps.  Any manufacture now most dealers don't want to work on older sleds and no parts available from the manufacturers.

  5. Kiekhaefer powered SKI-Doo??
In 1970 Carl Kiekhaefer broke away from Kiekhaefer Mercury and restarted Kiekhaefer Aeromarine Motors his original company. After failed attempts at building a successful snowmobile Carl turned his attention as being an engine supplier. He set his test bed on racing and built a 649CC F/A 3 cylinder mounted in 1971 Polaris TX chassis which won both oval and obstacle course events in the open non production class with engine sizes larger then 800CC. He later turned the lead design over to his son Fred to build a liquid cooled motor. Fred designed an inverted V-twin liquid cooled. They made the rounds of all the major manufactures with Ski-Doo showing the most interest because at that time they did not have a liquid cooled motor. In May of 1973 the papers were being drawn up with a closing date of July 1 1973. The problem was 1973 was a terrible snow year and after the year was over all the manufactures had extensive carryover inventory and Rotax had also come out with their own liquid cooled engine. It was agreed upon by both parties to back away from the deal. Fred Kiekhaefer still has 2 V-twin motors, one under a coffee table the other still mounted in its Chaparral test chassis.

LOL....some of the best and funniest threads I've ever "perused" are the Polaris brand specific ones on HCS.  OMG!  I swear, it was like DooTalk 2.0 sometimes.  I almost had to tape my fingers together to keep from replying, thus....forcing me to put myself on vacation

I see your posting spam (HCS).  That should be grounds for being ban.  Maybe the admin can put a filter on so it defaults to FreedomSledder.

Well, I mean, should I buy the best selling sled or the best dyno performing sled then?

Won’t have new ride until last race unless I can get one still in the crate.  Teams are keeping some crated because nobody knows if the series is gonna run it’s course because of spectators being banned because of the flu.

For you you should buy a sled you don't get hurt on.

  8. Been grooming for over 25 years when we have snow around home.  Our club use to have a LMC groomer but found it makes more sense for us to use a tractor because we cannot rely on the amount of snow we get.  We have 2 Cat Challengers that we actually rent our during the off season for lite field work.

  9. Some of the triples made by the aftermarket speed shops you could buy in the 90's.  I have a SLP RZ 700 trail version in a 1985 Indy 600 SE chassis.   Had a Arrow motor in a 1987 Indy 600 chassis lined up to buy but when I went to pick it up the guy backed out.  This was a race motor made in Shawano Wisconsin and Mike Weindant and Dean Schroeder were involved in with this motor.

  10. Matryx owners check in your dash storage area to make sure the GPS antenna is still attached to the top.  Also make sure you have enough slack in the cable.  Simple fix is remove the old adhesive double sided tape install an all weather double sided tape, wipe the area down with a cleaner and reinstall.
