  1. Personally I don't think our reputation has changed 1 bit over the years regardless who is @ the helm. It's not like we invaded some country while Harper was PM. For most people (other than the hangers on @ the UN & Bono) around the world, Canada isn't even a blip on their radar.
  2. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/world/canadians-feel-canadas-reputation-has-improved-on-the-world-stage-under-trudeau-poll-finds Did they survey CBC viewers? Then this: They obviously weren't paying attention when Trudeau gave the provinces an ultimatum on climate change or Morneau not impressing the provinces on health care funding.
  3. Spending money on programs that the corporate world would call, "non-value added work". Guys like Fail' can't figure out that when the public sector is larger than the private sector, we're fucked.
  4. OK, that's the fire, just not familiar w/ the towns in York Region. I remember the press conference after the investigation as I had met the Fire Marshal (at the time) @ a friend's hunting camp.
  5. Was that the fire that had hard wired smoke detectors? Once the hydro went out, the detectors were ineffective.

Not sure where you are but here are a couple in Durham: http://flashfirecoatings.com/ (on Hwy 2 in Courtice, just east of Townline) http://www.flashpowdercoating.ca/ (On Farewell in Oshawa, south of the 401) Flashfire is @ the same location as Oshawa Snowmobile Clinic. I've had work done by both. I can't compare the prices, but would lean more towards the Courtice shop in the future.
  7. I don't watch it or Dragon's Den, but from what I've seen of the shows, even the people w/ the worst ideas have a better stage presence than the Shiny Pony. I can't imagine he was a drama teacher (must've been a very short time). Then again if he couldn't act, no wonder he went into teaching. He's definitely no Burt Lancaster or Richard Burton. Someone needs to send him here: http://www.toastmasters.org/ To get rid of the effing ums & ahh ahh ahhs. He makes Ben Stein (of Ferris Beuller) sound like a sparkling conversationalist.
  8. I saw Trump's comments on a news ticker the other day. I thought that there's another person that's not blind to the realities. If JT saw this, I wonder if he cried? Does his handlers keep him from seeing bad news?

Do they have a problem doing smaller lots? A lot of outfits would probably just point guys like us to the door if we stopped in for an inquiry. It's been good to see that powder coating has become more accessible the past few years. I had a shop in Etobicoke (Ardaven Platers) plate some parts a couple years ago w/ zinc dichromate. It's the yellowish finish most commonly used on power brake boosters back in the 70s.

Bro was at the Shell getting 2 gas cans filled to fire up his sleds this morning. Three riders came in to get gas. They had run E107 from Jacks Lake & looking for an alternative trail back to the lake. Really the snow conditions suck. WTF are you people thinking? Then later I was @ the garage & 1 of the customers said he'd heard sleds last night running the PAVED road past his house. This morning he found that a sled hit his mailbox. Lots of green plastic on the ground. Probably very lucky there wasn't a fatal.

I was by Chandos on Thurs' & there was still a lot of open water. No idea why someone would think any ice along Georgian Bay would be safe to ride on.
  13. I don't know how much electricity they produced, but the diesel powered backup @ my plant was the same size as the typical diesel locomotive. Regardless of the size of they businesses, their owners are questioning the logic in continuing to do business in the Ontario w/ the current business model that OPG & Hydro 1 use. The 3 Stooges (Trudeau, Morneau & Butts) will continue along on the "Road to Utopia", while the business climate changes drastically south of the border. Mind you if every place of business w/ over 4 employees has a gender neutral washroom, every thing will be fine in Canada.
  14. Maybe the TPS could do us a favour & give him a ride on the Cherry Beach Express.
  15. The beatdowns finally get to him?
  16. Yes, but think of the dickhead in front of you @ Mac's that hasn't got the cash for a pop & bag of chips. If Interact/Moneris goes down, they're fucked. Look @ Xstrata shutting the Met Site in Timmins a few years ago. It was cheaper for them to truck the concentrate 216 klicks to their smelter in Rouyn Noranda. http://www.thesudburystar.com/2010/08/06/xstratas-profits-in-wake-of-timmins-closure-a-slap-in-the-norths-face Mind you the Liberals wouldn't care since the workers being unionized (private sector) would've voted NDP.

  19. The azzhat is in Calgary defending his carbon tax. Trying to say that there's a balancing act between the battle against climate change & growing the economy.
  20. There should be a law against idgits buying businesses & running them into the ground. Morons closed up the little store in Glen Alda. I imagine the co-owner drained her mother's savings in that enterprise. Her father is probably rolling over in his grave. I've heard over the years that the Foodland in Coe Hill isn't much better (don't buy the ice cream, emphasis on cream). How well marked is the route to Limerick Lake Lodge?
  21. Maybe the Swiss were offended by being compared to a Ford truck?
  22. In the story I linked in the Wynnebag thread, Progressive Anodizing used around $3,200 of electricity in 1 month. The actual monthly bill was $44,000 after all the BS charges were added.
  23. I wonder if that will keep companies in Ontario?
