CHICOPEE — The 439th Airlift Wing has been tapped to serve as the lead Air Force Reserve C-5 Wing in the country in an activation that will call up about 140 Westover personnel to fly on multiple global missions over the next three months.

The order calls for the activation to last 90 days but that could be extended depending on multiple factors that happen in the world. The first members were activated on Tuesday, Furr said.

Furr could not say where the C-17 crews are going and could not reveal much about the missions Westover expects to be assigned because of security reasons.
