Capt.Storm
At least 22 dead in 10-hour standoff with Islamic State Doug Stanglin, USA TODAY8:09 a.m. EDT July 3, 2016 The Amaq news agency said the killers used “knives, cleavers, assault rifles and hand grenades” on their hostages, but released Muslims unharmed. The father of one of the hostages said the gunmen tortured anyone who could not recite a verse from the Quran, the Daily Star newspaper reported. Rezaul Karim said his son, Hasnat, was at the restaurant with his wife and children to celebrate his daughter's 8th birthday. “The gunmen were doing a background check on religion by asking everyone to recite from the Quran," he said. "Those who could recite a verse or two were spared. The others were tortured.” Reza said the gunmen, described as being under 30, shouted "Allah akbar (God is great)" when they entered the restaurant. But Barry must have talked to them. The Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, claimed responsibility for the terror attack, saying its fighters targeted the citizens of "Crusader countries." The Bangladesh government denied the claim, saying ISIL has virtually no presence in the country. The government insists neither the Islamic State nor Al-Qaeda have a foothold in Bangladesh, instead blaming homegrown militants. Last month, it began a nationwide crackdown on the incidents, arresting thousands of people after the number of attacks increased. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2016/07/02/bangladesh-hostage-standoff-dhaka-rescue-mission-terrorist-attack/86630932/ Edited July 3, 2016 by Capt.Storm
