Another tax dodging democrat

MADISON − A former state lawmaker from central Wisconsin and one-time lieutenant governor candidate was sentenced Tuesday to 33 months in federal prison for failing to pay employment taxes.

Kevin Shibilski, 61, of Merrill will spend three years on supervised release after his prison sentence for failing to truthfully account for and pay the Internal Revenue Service the federal income taxes withheld and the FICA taxes owed on behalf of his employees at two of his businesses, Pure Extractions and Wisconsin Logistics Solutions.

At Tuesday's sentencing, Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson found the government presented overwhelming evidence showing that Shibilski had been in charge of 5R's operations and finances since March 2013, according to the news release. Shilbilski has been the primary decisionmaker on which bills to pay and not pay, including the decision to not pay the employment taxes.

Peterson found Shibilski had not accepted responsibility for his actions, noting that Shibilski kept blaming everyone else, including the IRS, his co-defendants and other 5R employees for the nonpayment of the taxes, according to the news release. Peterson said a prison sentence was needed to send a message to business owners who willfully fail to pay their employment taxes and to the general public who need to know prisons are not just for the impoverished or drug dealers, according to the release.

Typical democrat.
