Comes down to some in MI6 and American intelligence see Trump as a threat to making Russia out as the boogeyman once again. Obama and Clinton fucked up and Putin took advantage of them. Now the IC (US and abroad) see Russia as the gift that keeps on giving. Back to the cold war days so NATO stays strong and that so many of them long for when they felt important. Trump was a threat to that from the very beginning especially when he started getting critical of NATO. I'm not so sure letting Putin do what he has done wasn't done intentionally by the Obama and Clinton team to prop them up as a threat. Not specifically to get at Trump in the beginning but as a means to expand the deep state (IC). Remember they use the threat of radical islamic terrorism to spy on us a threat the likes of the cold war only gives them more reason too. Somehow I think Steele is going to still have connections with the GB deep state who still wants their American bodyguard against Mother Russia.
