Up here too. It is very complicated for sure.
We have a massive housing and worker shortage.
I work in the construction industry, drive a concrete truck on and off between working for my own business.
My hot tub repair business has been so busy during covid, I went back to concrete as a "vacation".
The largest, by far builder and rental property owner (2000) has just laid off 60 people, I've been told.
No longer is he building on spec, despite the need for homes and rentals. That should speak volumes.
Homes were being built on speculation for that 800k to 1.2 million and being sold, pre build.
Every contractor I know, their phones have gone silent in the last couple months.
This will not help the lack of housing, and I hope not, an unemployment problem.
On the plus side, I've been waiting on my carpenter buddy to find the time to build my second floor, master bedroom deck for a couple years.
He's going to have some free time coming up.
Getting me the material list this week.
Sucks that a 2x4 is still $6
Your right about the ridiculous price of 2x4"s. I've been watching the price at Home Depot and they're down to $5.48. The Irving Mill in NB has piles of lumber sitting there and in all the times we've gone by have never seen a truck coming out of there with a load on.

The moving truck showed up this morning with our furniture etc etc. The wife is directing traffic with that goes into the basement, that is in the living room, that goes upstairs and so on. We marked all the boxes and it sure makes it easy for them lol

The wife's cousin has a place in Fort Myers and we haven't talked to him yet if he got any damage. I imagine he was glued to his phone at home watching on his surveillance system.

Did some boneless skinless chicken thighs in the air fryer….turned them into jerky.😂
Going to stick with regular thighs from now on.👌🏻
We do the regular thighs and boneless/skinless breasts in the air fryer with roasted red pepper/garlic spice. They always come out nicely cooked and moist.

I'm a boomer and have made my own path thru life on my back. I worked hard for what I've earned, spent what I've earned and tried doing the best I could. I'll sit n drink ,eat and enjoy the company of others no matter the age group. The one thing going thru life is understanding respect not commanding it. Everyone has a life to live so live it the best you can and not expect it on a plate.

Part of that is covering ins and you get a small refund if not a Que resident. If that has changed I'm not sure of

I’ll be back in a home by fall of “23. Right now the housing market is still really tight in all except the shithole states. A tiny house with a heated 4 vehicle garage would be perfect.
We'll be starting our build next spring.

We got lucky with Fiona in our area. Other areas weren't as lucky. Mother nature is nasty with these storms

It was over $300 for enough 1/2” marine plywood to finish the van build’s floor. Crazy.
3/4 sheets were around $100/ sheet here in Can. The Irving mill in NB has alot of lumber stockpiled all over the place. Everytime we go by there I get pissed off and mumble sell some of it you motherfkrs

I've been watching the prices of 2x4"s for a while now here at Home Depot and a 2x4x8 just dropped to $5.48. Fkn ridiculous and the home kit we we're looking at is still up by $110K.

When I was running OTR (many moons ago) there were alot of show n shine big rigs on the hwy especially running up/down the west coast. They were all polished up and a ton of lights all over the trailers especially the reefers. The last truck I had was a Pete that I sold back in 83 with a 3406 Cat with a 15 over. Those were the days for me

Glad to hear that you got through it without any major issues.
A buddy coming here in an older motorhome wasn't so lucky. He was going to arrive here on Sat and I told him to take his time and he said he'll show up on Mon. Somewhere in New Brunswick the wind tore off most of the roof of his coach. Knowing him he'll drive it here anyways lol

We didn't get the brunt of Fiona where we are in Nova Scotia. We secured everything on our lot and stayed at our rental the past couple nights. We stopped at our lot today and basically a few little twigs and leaves so we're staying in the motorhome and run the Onan as needed. The area has no power so might as well be comfy.

Was going to do the same....list house and retire earlier this spring.
Glad I didn't, just heard we are getting a $300 per month bump in pension starting 1/1/23........plan on retiring and selling house next spring/early summer.......Im in no rush.
We've been retired about 3 years and have no family left in Ont that matter and the grandkids are a short walk from our property. We decided to go for it after alot of thought and planning.

@smokin georgethis doesn't sound to good!!!
We put alot of stuff away getting ready. The pontoon is out of the water and we"ll take the umbrellas and chairs off the dock. We'll put the slideouts in on the motorhome and hopefully that'll do. We're gonna spend the night at our rental and hope it goes past our area

Russian nuclear submarine armed with 'doomsday' weapon disappears from Arctic harbor

A Russian sub was off the east coast of the US with enough nukes on board to destroy the US. They probably were stopping by to say hello.
