Because it was getting under his skin. Do I need to recap this again? Fine. MC was 18 in 1973. He was eligible to serve in Vietnam by making a choice to do so. He chose not to. Trump took deferments because he had the ability to and chose not to go as well. For one person who chose NOT TO GO WILLINGLY to tell off another not to go willingly is a hypocritical move of the highest order. I guess I don't see why that is so hard to figure out? MC was not a draft dodger but he was still of able body to go. If he has the balls to call someone else a draft dodger, he better have laced up his boots in the same situation.

Again...he is turning out to be EXACTLY the man I imagine him to be.

Yes, it does have a lot to do with it. capitalism operates by externalizing costs and internalizing profits.

One of the 'externalities' is environmental pollution and exploitation. See deep water horizon or any of the other major oil spills for further information. Or Fukushima.

Or the fact that we weren't entirely sure if detonation of a nuclear bomb would cause a global chain reaction, but we went ahead and detonated one anyway.

Human hubris alone may be enough to lead to our extinction, but combine that with the profit motive and it's a recipe for sure disaster.

Hmmm.....I'm not gonna say I don't believe the human race isn't a cancer on the earth.  But capitalism isn't in itself the reason.  In short, and to quote Michael D; "greed is good".  Capitalism needs renewable resources to continue.  Both human and environmental.  In fact, there are areas of both that have capitalism to thank for their continued existence.

Human error/ignorance for our race to perish?  Ok...I'll buy into some of that.  But a fluid economic process doing it alone?  Highly doubtful.

The gluttonous greed and ensuing corruption always consumed them. We are well on our way and maybe close to the breaking point.

Most prosperous civilizations had no quick way to reach resources in a drought or major climate change.  Along with contagious disease and illnesses in which there were no cure for at the time.  Not "greed" or "corruption".  Those are usually sorted out violently by the people at the precipice of demise.

Capitalism will fail to recognize dangerous practices and behavior and it will result in some sort of cataclysm or another. A mass poisoning; technology replacing workers, creating a huge underclass where disease will spread and chaos will ensue; our climate could change in a way that wipes out our food supply.

Any number of things could happen. All the great civilizations eventually crumble. No, it wasn't capitalism that took them down specifically, but it was similar attitudes and disregard for the consequences of their actions that eventually led to their end

Ok.  So, what you are saying is Antifa members are "doomsday preppers"?

And none of the occurances you listed as "cataclysmic" above have anything to do with how an economic system works.

I think you are reaching for an answer and confusing us.  Or me anyway.

No, I don't think they can stop it nor do I think we should be investing billions to do so. I think we should be spending that money to take advantage of what the changing climate will bring. More rain in the midwest and a longer growing season. Less rain in the west and southwest. How do we produce crops that are better suited, handle weather changes, etc. I don't see how climate change can't have opportunities. There is always opportunity.

As for the extent of human influence on that change, I don't know. I think there is some, but I don't subscribe to the doom and gloom side of it. I think most of it is a cycle caused by mother nature herself. Not saying I think we should polute away because there is effects on drinking water and air quality, but I do not think we should hamstring business and manufacturing because of global warming.

The oceans aren't going to rise 100 feet and kill everyone either. I think that is foolish. If they do rise, humans will counter it as we always do with weather. Time to put aside the fear based politics of GW and start looking for solutions rather than knee jerk reactions that don't help anyone.

    This'll do for me!

    Done.

Not a chance. His method was simple. He ripped them apart all election. He can do that to anyone and get 50M angry Americans to not buy their products and make them the face of the bad guys... A couple of tweets about how bad they were, the MSM puts their logo front and center because they lapp up whatever he says for a few days, boom they are releasing a new plan to keep workers here. The best part IS THEY THANKED HIM! HAHAHA!

Gotta hand it to the guy...

    Indeed.

Indeed.  Well, her "boss" was.  But there's no chance they'd have a change in direction under her as the Elect-POTUS.  And she couldn't care less.

    Authoritarian asswipes.

Hey man...gonna break this to you.  Fact is there is no country or even a city/establishment anywhere that has worked under the premise of an anarchy.  It cannot.  It doesn't work.  True anarchy is only possible for brief moments at the onset of a revolution or some other uprising.  And it is fleeting.  Trying to assume it is possible with the human race is pretty much a waste of energy.  We have never evolved to be a "live and let live" species.  Not enough of us possess the passive genes...and really, it takes ALL of us to have them for it to work.  The ones that are passive are promptly put under the strong thumb of others.  Fact is, humans choosing to live in a civilized society need and want governing for their own safety and safety of others.

But hey...I admire the hope that maybe one day.........

I won't disagree with you on the force-fed symbolic reactions we are supposed to have as "good" americans, but that does not remove the idea of freedom to see it however you want.

Those first amendment rights go both ways. You can't protest through burning and not also support those who hold it dear. Both are the exact same as far as it goes.

And there's this:  don't practice your "right to free speech" as a cheap cover to provoke an engagement....then expect the laws to protect you.  That's all I pretty much see anymore, unjust provocation during "peaceful protests" that are anything but peaceful.  Wanna burn the flag or descecrate something some may find dear to them to draw attention like a little brat kid? You'd better do it surrounded by a bunch of your "types" in a safe place....have a ceremony if you like.  Maybe some cake and ice cream afterwords.  I could give a fuck less.

Wanna parade yourself around as some type of "revolutionary" and insult the population?  Well, there's a good chance your ideals are gonna be put to the test.  And while most think they are "prepared", they are simply woefully equipped to face "the white elephant".  Believe it or not....shitting and pissing yourself out of fear is a real thing.  Bring diapers.
