  1. So I am on well water and it leaves yellow stains on everything, tastes like crap, smells bad, and plugs up the taps. Clearly my water is hard. I took a sample into a local water store and had them test it. I now officially have the hardest water they have ever tested. Not a title I really wanted lol. So the results were

    total dissolved solids: 1040 ppm

    Hardness: 27 gpg

    Iron: 1.5 mgl

So a water softener should be in my future. They recommended a 45,000 grain one. They said they had one for $1600. So I went home and was looking online and there were some used ones that popped up for the 300-500 range which is a little easier to swallow. Only problem is I know nothing about water softeners. I have no idea if a used one would be a bad or good choice. And regardless if I buy new or used, I wouldn't know what a good one looked like. Does anyone have any insight on what to look for or what to get?

  2. 2009 M8 153" 2 kms.

Had enough snow to ride around the yard but that was it then it all melted.

Currently visiting family in central Ontario right on Georgian Bay and since I have arrived Friday the 22, about 2.5 feet of snow has fallen if not more in some places and it is just coming down again this morning. And my ditch pickle is 3600 kms in no snow Alberta lol

  3. I have not seen it but I work with a die hard star wars guy. He was disappointed because apparently the plot lines were meh and it did not tie into the other story lines from the other "new" movies very well. Ignored issues from the other movies. Apparently would have been much better as a standalone.

Well you might be stuck with the M then.

Ya I was thinking the same thing. I posted it for trade for anything in an IQ chassis with a 136" or less and 600 cc but I only got a response from a guy with an 2002 800 rmk

Pass on the sled.  You can find a decent 600 Rev for that kind of money.  I think there are a couple of 600 Revs on Kijiji right now.

I can not stand revs. My brother used to own a 07 rev and I hated the riding position and style.

  6. Well after ignoring my messages since Tuesday. He just messaged me tonight saying the turbo blew on his duramax and now he needs to sell the sled to fix it. He wants 3700 for the sled because that is what it will take to fix his truck lol. I wish I was not such a nice person and tell him to take his problems else where for jerking me around on the trade.

Also just told me that the reason that he couldn't give me the vin is because he never in three years bothered to get the sled registered or insured. And the sled is 45 mins away at "the cabin" so he doesn't know the vin. Sounds like a stupid decision to me.

Idk. I had some lookers at 3900........ Probably will be able to get rid of it for 3500 realistically. I just rebuilt the thing from top to bottom, so now I am emotionally attached to the silly bitch. Might just keep it as a backup or when I want to look super cool in front of teenage sledneck wannabes.

Is that not what we all want to do? Lol

Dude pass on this sled.  I know you want it but guy is sketchy at best.  Save a headache

I have been thinking the same thing. I have a ton of patience but they are just about done.

And zambroski, he did not turbo it. That was his reason for not letting it go back in October

Let the man buy what he wants.  It sounds like he just wants a ditch banging good time...and this machine is certainly that.  Assuming the updates and other shit to look out for that Aiqpilot mentioned earlier.  And even still...if you like messing with these toys, it’ll give you stuff to do all year.  Mine gets pretty much ripped apart throughout the summer, cleaned, improved, etc....

So what if it’s not a comfy-cozy ride for 100’s of miles.  None of mine have been.  I get all I need out of a couple of hard 40 mile runs a week and find it much more fun than the couple of 100+ milers I’ll do each season with a group.

Hey Thomas, LET’R RIP, TATER CHIP!!!!  (Brotater, Teddy Brosevelt, Brofesser....)

However, the fact you can’t seem to get him to send you the VIN and it appears he’s flakey and has been flakey on this whole deal for some time is what throws the red flags for me.  So.....

He has been very flakey. I was talking to him back in October when he first listed it for trade. He flaked on me then. Talk to him for 3 weeks trying to arrange a time. At the end he said he was going to keep it and put a turbo on it his dad found.

Then 2 weekends ago he posted it back up for trade. I messaged him again. Had no idea that I was talking to him a month and a half earlier. He was supposed to come the Saturday we just had but he found out on Friday night he had a funeral to go to on Saturday. So we rescheduled for Sunday. Sunday rolls around and the starter goes on his truck. So we reschedule for last night and apparently he didn't get his starter fixed and his ride bailed on him. Found that out 2 hours after he was supposed to show.

Used 2-3-? owner race sleds with no service records or history you can track down?  Unless you know all about it, can get underneath it, and know what you're dealing with.  I'm not sure I see the point.  The luster would likely wear off first ride, and around here those pipes would get you a ticket too. :bc:

This one is not a race sled. It is a factory converted trail sled.

There are no snow x races out where I am. Low chance it was ever raced other than against friends.

Why do you want an iqr?  One of the worst trail sleds with out a lot of work and money

I always had a thing for them. Think they are one of the best looking sleds on snow. Also I have had a 2007 iq with the Fox shocks with the remote rezzies and a 2010 Dragon switchback with the walker Evans and the suspension has always been way to soft for my fat ass. So on the suspension department it rocks for me lol. And I don't have any trails to fly through and be all technical about or do any long rides where I have to worry about fuel economy. And theoretically the chassis should be able to take whatever I throw at it without too much issue.

  12. Well the guy has been a major flake. Couldn't make it again tonight. Either he is stringing me along or has the worst luck in history. It would be a lot easier to tell him to kick rocks if he wasn't the only person in all of Alberta with an iqr(r) for sale.

I have a 2009 M8 HCR and I feel your pain...I could sell mine all day long for 3000 bucks but that ain't gonna happen!

They are that cheap Canadian all day long lol

  14. Yes it will be my only sled. But unfortunately I won't be riding a whole lot. Alberta trails a really limited and I don't know anybody that trail rides. There is one poker run that some guys I know do other that that, everyone heads to the mountains. So for a weekend they take Friday off work, drive 6 hours West, sled half of friday, hotel, sled Saturday, Hotel, drive 6 hours home Sunday. It is a $400 weekend not including missed pay for Friday or if you break anything. I just cant do that at this stage of the game.

I am looking for something to beat around in the fields and goat paths with the odd trail ride thrown in.

There were 3 recalls that I remember.  The jackshaft was the only really important one.

Are you going to be online at 5ish mountain standard time? So in twoish hours?
