I'm looking for an f5 or f6 barney for the kid, not easy to find. I didn't know what years they made those.
How much are looking to spend and how far are you willing to travel?

I tttthink thats a different airbox but on the 600 iq chassis( 06 in particular) around the headlight leaks like a siv too. a good bead of clear silicone cures that tho
My headlight doesn't seem to leak water into the housing. But last year I found out that snow got in around the headlight and into the air box when I was in deep snow. So last year I got some foam strips and replaced the wore out factory foam on the tray under the instrument cluster as well as sealed the outside of the headlight housing to the hood.
I even has to get frog skin for the hood vents. This is my third IQ and I don't ever remember having a problem with snow getting under the hood, but this one sure did

I'll get a lot of shit done in a half a day or a day, then it'll sit for a couple weeks due to life and/or my mind getting the best of me.
Well I am usually just lazy lol. I don't have a very big/nice place to work so I just make due. I also not a huge fan of working by myself. Gets lonely and the job is less fun. It seems the only time I have company is when I am working on someone else's shit lmao.
Dd is out

The one hasn't ran in probably 3-4 years, so it needed a little attention.
I bought a 2005 kawi klr 650 like that this summer.
The story goes buddy bought it, put 1000 kms on it then had a kid. It sat for 3 years and apparently only rode it twice around home in the first 2. When I bought it, it had not been started in over a year. Ran like crap so I got a wicked deal. Only had 16,000 kms on it and bought it for $2,200. Carb needed some attention and ran mint.
Also you inspired me. I am going to try and get some sled stuff done today lol.

I got the exhaust and carbs off and the front shocks and skid ripping out of one sled, threw the skid and shocks back in another and am waiting for the crank to get back. Maybe get boozed up and do some clutching.
It is always a good idea to work on your clutches at .08 and above.
Edit, got the gas tanks and seats off the two of them too.
You don't mess around lol.

Putting sleds together for the year.
Trying to decide if I drag out an old carb'ed monster for some extra fun to throw in the money toilet.
Still no motivation...
I feel you there. The wife is working today, so it is just myself and the dogs. I need to pull the DD of the crossfire and put the hood back on the dragon. The dragon still needs to be go through.
But like above, the motivation does not exist lol.

I don't know how people can afford/justify these things, it is mind boggling. You can buy a well equipped truck for this much......

Yes but a $18K 1000 xp with ps seems a better deal than a $14K 850 that one person can ride on.
Lmao. That is why I own 2 sleds at a combined $6000 cad lol

It is crazy what they put into these things now. Also it is crazy the price of the higher end models.
The RZR turbo with a few options is close to $30,000 cad up here. That is pants-on-head retarded lol.

The bushings in the weights were wore out as well. And of course you have to spend $120 in weights to get the bushings lol. Rollers were still good. Added some dry lubricant where Tom suggested and hopefully it solves all of my lack of speed issues.
I am pretty excited to ride this year. I put on rmk gripper skis with new carbides, rmk handle bars with my 6"-8" riser, float 2 front shocks, and now my clutch's spring isn't wore out and my weights aren't rubbing on the spider. Should be a totally different machine.

See a ton of the Walker velocitys on the SxS and guys loving them. Think they should work well on the new xcr. The walkers on my xc were trashed last year after 3k miles.
I saw those for the first time this year at the Alberta sled show. They were on the new rmk "Khaos" package.
One of the things that pissed me off about the sled is the fact they are still using a early 2000's reverse button on a $15,000 sled 15 years later lmao.

Just like what is in a transmission so maybe/likely that is why the ATF is recommended?
Thanks.
That what I think as well.

Is that what the DD/Cat recommend, ATF? I've heard of people using it before but always wondered why? Never have I used it, always gear lube in the 75W-90 synthetic variety either from Mobil-1, Amsoil severe gear or Pennzoil gear lube.
I change it annually, adjust the chain slack and drive on. Never had a chain case issue ever, but I haven't managed a lot of miles either in the last 15+ years.
I am not sure what cat recommends. When I had a 09 m8 5 years ago, someone on these forums recommended full synthetic ATF. So that is what I have been using. It is a planetary gear set instead of a silent chain on two sprockets.
I have been running Polaris chain case oil in my Polaris switchback because I couldn't find reliable info on a good alternative by googling it.

it is the brass shims to look at on the planetary when they are missing or almost gone then the planetary is about to go .
that reverse DD was a mistake the pre reverse and the motor reverse were great
Good to know. I will be looking for information when I get this thing apart.

It’s worth it. That’s a big mile sled and still brings good money.
This thing only has 1160 miles on it. It has a few scratches and dings from a barbed wire fence apparently and a rip on the rear part of the seat but other than that it is really good shape. I am pretty sure it is the original factory track and it is mint.
Between buying it and doing some work to it when I got it, I am around $2500 usd into it.

I will pull the DD apart and make sure it is just bearings and not a gear or something else before I order the parts. Looks like from bdx that the bearing kit and seals are $200 cad with shipping.

best to replace the planetary gear now . when they go they go big
Is there an upgrade/update for these things? It seems like they are a bit of an issue.
