We HAD a good County owned 1/3 mile dirt track and at one time had the highest IMCA modified car count in Wisconsin.  One of our snowmobile club members did all the track prep.  The track was wide and on a normal night had 2-3 good lanes with good racing.  The problem was the track promoters and and county Executive did not got alone at all.  When the contract for renewal came up it became very personal and unprofessional between both parties.  In the end the RFP was written by the County that the promoter or anybody else could meet the requirements or rent.  The County signed a contract with Lifefeast and bulldozed the track to build a stage.

Now the County Executive is gone, the stage is used once a year and Lifefeast wants out of their contract.  Was a shame that they couldn't work together.

Sounds like the guy that ran the fair on Fargo.

I swear fair boards bring him in to get rid of race tracks.   There was no way in hell that track was going to exist while he was there.

He did it to another fair down in Kansas or someplace like that in the last year or so.

Fargo got the track back and going thanks to a lot of dedicated locals, but shortened it from a big half miler.  Good track too.

From what I’ve seen on pretty much all cats is initial run after setup the rotor will rattle a little bit. Grab the brake a couple times and it seats on the shaft where it wants to be and its fine from then on

Maybe it is just an issue with all the 8000 and 9000 riders who never really use the brake since they ride at like 20mph anyway.

Geometry is more important than year, I could care less how old something is

I went from a Trek Session DH bike to a Cannondale XC bike of somekind to nothing.

I think anything semi-modern is a big improvement from either of those for riding in western MN.

Terrible time of year right now to buy.  Bought my wives 5010 in October a couple years back.  Few years old, 30% of new price.  Mine was 1 year old at 50%.  Depending on where in the cities I'd be glad to look at something for you.  Can't tell fit obviously, but mechanically can check it out.  Covid made things nuts but last fall there were a ton of deals.  Almost upgraded my sons bike.  Probably need to buy him a large here pretty quick as well as he is 14 and 5'10 so it won't be long that the medium isn't going to work.

Found a Rocky Mountain I might try to make time to go look at tomorrow.  Will probably be too wet to be in the fields.

Don't have a ton of requirements.

Fox fork and/or shock, Shimano 1x12, slacker headtube angle, modernish frame (2020 or newer ideal), sub-$2500.  Seems like it would be easy(ish) to find, but not really.

on the bright side you won't have to ask Facebook how to get it to do wheelies.

that deserves a GGB mountain can as well.  ask mom for the credit card.

To hell with the GGB stuff, he needs himself a Sno-Stuff Stumble Pack

Wait you can’t keep people working on 3500 sleds a year?!

Does Argo assemble their own ATV's and whatnot?  You'd think if they don't Cat could be a good acquisition for them to move that in house.

Teslas seem to be everywhere now.  I see a few Rivians, not as many as Deephaven would in his neighborhood.  Don't think I've ever seen a Lucid.

The Audi and BMW leasee crowd has flocked over to Teslas.  I am uninterested in owning a Tesla of any variety.

Saw three today including a sapphire.  Our elementary school 10 years ago was all Volvo XC90's, then Range Rovers, now it is dominantly Rivian's.  Few Bentleys, Lambos as well.  My son loves the chrome Urus, wants one bad, lol.

There were 2 Urus's floating around Hood Cloud when we were there.  A pearl white one and a lighter blue one.  I thought they were neat at first, but now they are kind of meh.  I'd rather have one of the Rambo Lambos that live a sad life in this state.

I'd hate life if I had to be in a model 3 for 63k miles.  Such a piece of shit.

Tesla Boy at work tried to lemon law his like 4 times before they pretty much banned him from the dealer/service center?

He still talks with a couple of the younger engineers here.  That kid has issues.

Cat ran the early order program twice and extended it. Imo people are tired of their dog and pony show they have been pulling for the last few years and not producing. When it finally got into the consumers hand and people quit listening to what demo riders who never buy new sled and social media influencers say they caught on. Killed sales. The catalyst is a good sled but it’s not what it was made out to be a year ago. A year ago the 600 was wiping the door on any 850 and it didn’t, it was on par with any 600. Basically took the wind out of their sails.

Wish they'd just sell to Argo, take the L on the books, and put us all out of this misery.

I've ridden a bunch and the one benefit I see of the 29 is that it makes my xl or XXL frame look more to scale   Outside of that the nimble feeling of a 27.5 wins every time.  In every situation I've ridden a 29 I've felt slower and less confident.  I am sure there are frame geometries that can change that, but I will also never buy a new bike as the value of a couple year old one is huge.  The further in time you go back the worse the 29ers are

For most mountain bikes, I need a large.  Almost everything I've found that I've considered buying is either not a large, almost the same price as new, or sells right away.

I can't just drop what I'm doing and drive 3 hours to the Cities to buy something.

Maybe I need to be less picky?  F it.  If I'm spending this kind of money, I'm buying one I want and know I'll ride.

When people see their savings and jobs shrink, their standard of living dribble away, they’re going to turn to what they see as the wealthy for blood. Pitchforks. This is the hedonistic phase of a declining empire.

The problem is once you "Eat the Rich" for the top 5%, society keep going.

Eventually, you are the top 5%.

    Then what?

Personally I would avoid a 29er for MN as well or at least have a 27.5" read tire so that the chain stays don't turn the bike into a truck.  The older the bike the more important this is and shopping the used market here there are a lot of bikes for sale that do not have geometry I am a big fan of.

I liked the 29'er I had.  I rolled through stuff way faster so I could hit shit and eat shit harder.  It was a XC bike, so it steered like a road bike on the trails.  Not good on the downhills at all.

I'm leaning towards a Nukeproof Scout or Commencal of some kind if I go with a hardtail or a Polygon Siskiu T8 or T9 if I go full squish squish.  Possibly a Commencal FS with the Ohlins too.

  11. Anyone ride a enduro style bike all around in MN?

Not finding a decent Polygon T8 in large right now, but found a Marin Alpine for a couple hundred more, but it is an enduro bike vs. trail bike.

Also looking at various hardtails that meet the spec I'm after, used of course.

Buy an ev.  They have been giving loan forgiveness in the form of a tax credit.

What is really wild in MN at least, the only way you can limit out on collecting the tax credits is selling enough cars the state considers you a dealer.  In theory, you could buy 6 and sell 5, collecting the tax credits the whole way.

The “establishment” is doing this. There are a lot of people that don’t want to vote trump because they hate him now and voted for Biden last time and won’t now. Throw a 3rd party in there trump and rfk won’t get enough votes to win and the they get to pull the puppet strings for another 4 years. You split the other side 50/50 you are going to win.

Like I said, when the Democrats trot out whichever turd sammich it is they are running, all the Bernie Bros and Yang Gang and the like fall right in line and vote for the D.

It happened when the brought out the old dull battle ax Hilldog and when the propped up Biden and Kamala Quota.

    Crystal skull vodka?!!

Aykroyd could’ve made a fortune as a used car salesman.

Bought one bottle and got one for free of that stuff in my vodka drinking days.

The free one was the 1.75L.  Think those were like $125 or so back then.

Not a fan, personally.  Made lemon, orange, and grapefruit juices taste really bitter to me.
