  1. Its been a minute but I have three projects going at the moment, been switching from a 65cc dirtbike rebuild to rebuilding an enclosed sled trailer to working on the white turd (2013 M800)

Huge thanks to  @fortune46x and ebay forgetting all the parts needed to bring the sled up to par.

Fixes to this sled since aquiring it in February of 2023:

    Removing wrap.

Used team primary with BDX springs/weights.

Used hood off of a 2014.

    BDX anti slop kit.

    Used 2016 mountain spindles.

    Used 2015 skis.

    Starter bracket and motor assembly.

    Relocated air temp sensor.

    Headlight delete.

Trimmed snow flap (after ripping it off in reverse.

Tapped stripped recoil bolt holes to M7x1.0.

    Used recoil assembly.

    SPI a-arms.

    Homeade aluminum front bumper.

New ski bolts, rubbers, and bushings.

LED lightbar with an inline rectifier i made at work with diodes, capacitor and resitor pulled from a UPS circuit board.

And a few smaller itms i cant remember.

Still a little more to do but its at the point i can ride and finish the other parts later.

I thought it seemed like a good idea, not sure how much they’ll cost.

Seems like a lot of people spend a lot of time and effort trying to fit an additional 2 gallons to the tunnel.  A larger tank that does the same thing and also frees up space on the tunnel might get their attention, I don’t know.

I’m glad someone thought of it, and it makes me wonder if there will be more than one.

I imagine BDX will come out with a similar tank for the Catalyst.

  3. Absolute worst part is my wife was right there saying keep looking for other sleds when she seen the cracked hood but i didn't listen so since February ive gotten the "I told you soo" comment everytime she see's it lol.

The upside is in Idaho you only have to pay 35 for your sticker and now they dont associate a vin or require proof of ownership to them just pay and ride (once i get a clutch) but id still take my 2001 Mountain Cat LE that i had for 11 years and modified quite a bit this past season before selling it, i knew its quirks and for a long track trail sled i could keep up and the old zuke 800 never failed.

Ill take the time a turn the 2013 turd into a good sled like i have done to others and pass inspection to get the rebuilt title so that when i do decide to sell it in the future the next owner will have the full story up-front and know what they are getting into. Luckily i love wrenching on things or this would've ended up as a part-out sled.

interesting way to delete part of the electric start...
I'm assuming you aren't going to fix it, since its a mountain sled, but if you do want to, its way cheaper to get the update kit that comes with a starter motor, bracket, shaft etc. than to buy the parts separate.

Either way its a good idea to figure out why that engine mount bolt hole is empty, and put a bolt back in it..  my guess is that large ugly ground in notch was to get a wrench in there to remove it...

Well kinda long story but ill keep it short i bought the sled not knowing it had electric start, seller never mentioned it and failed to mention he had "totaled" it after hitting a stump got paid out insurance money back in 2017 and kept the sled and continued riding it, he was supposed to surrender the title to farm bureau when he reported it as totaled but didnt .

Then he sold it to me and i find all this out when i went to register it my next paycheck, tried to get my money back, he threatened to sue me for the cost of a full wrap? and would only give me 1500 back and the other 1500 was "Rent" for having it two weeks, got law enforcement involved had a good case for the prosecutor in my county and his insurance sent me all the paperwork they had on it and wanted to help get him for insurance fraud but the transaction happened in a county that has only two sheriffs deputys so they said they didnt want to pursue him and that its a civil matter but they did give me his address to have him served got bummed and didn't want to deal with it anymore as i sold two of my sleds to buy it.

After doing research over the summer i found i can get it registered under a rebuilt title but i need to replace the a arms  and bumper (the only real damage) and take it to get inspected/certified. And fill out a few more forms.

Titles dont mean anything when you go to buy, live and learn i guess.

  5. Got what was left of the electric start removed and installed the BDX steering bushings.  Going to cut and weld a t post on and run a fixed riser since the telescopic steering system still has 3" of play at the bar ends.

Also removed the graphics on the side panel and cleaned off the adhesive, still have to get alot of adhesive off from the full wrap that was on it.

PO used self tappers to hold the recoil starter on and they are all stripped so either i tap it for a larger bolt or helicoil it.

At this rate i may be able to ride by January?

  6. Got a hot mess 2013 m800 SP to deal with this season. (Not even the worse part of the story)

Needs a new clutch (blew on my first ride) and new a arms, remove electric start motor, fix steering post slop and replace the bent handlbars.

Then a few smaller items like leaking 2t oil from the tank, broken ski loop, and bent bumper.

Already installed new steering post plate in bulkhead, used 2014 hood , removed sun rotten full wrap, and updated belt guard.

    Before and current:

Nearly same sled i built, 2001 mountain cat 600 with a 98 zr motor, doesn't get out of the hole fast either but as soon as it hits 5k it takes off as it should, those old non power valve 600's have no bottom end so clutching is key
