Just listened to the audio version last week. Un-fucking-real.

My grandpa fought in Europe in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also involved in liberating a concentration camp although I don't know which one. Never said much about any of it but I remember watching TV with him when I was a kid. I'd look over at him and he would have tears streaming down his face. Died in 1989. Wish I had more time with him.

Used to be able to consistently ride from my house in SE MN, not so much anymore. Majority of riding now is out of my buddy's place near Stone Lake WI. Done the western UP many times and now we just prefer northern WI. Did have a trip to the Black Hills in 1995 that was a blast, but haven't been out riding since. Wife and I hope to find a place in northern WI in the next few years to have a base of operations for riding and fishing.

Have 4 30 racks ready to go for Boone. That'll maybe last the first 2 nights. It'll depend on what my friend brings with. Might stop and pick up another 2 or 3 30 racks.
Hamm's is from the land of sky blue waters. Do you not like the beer refreshing?
Dude, a 12'er of Hamm's is $9.99 here and a dirty 30 is $14.99 or $15.99 depending on where you go. The dirty 30 is clearly the way to go.
I know I know! I didn't have room for a 30 in the fridge! There was too much Old Style and High Life left!

Has anyone here had any experience with carbon barrels? Specifically Proof Research?

My son runs an Athlon on his AR and he likes it, but I'm looking for something a bit higher quality without spending enough to get the wife's attention!

I've been looking at a Razor HD LHT 4.5-22 for a .308 build. Trying to keep it as light as possible. Would like to get out to 1000 yards but not a lot of options for ranges where I live.
7mm PRC seems like an interesting round.

Was in New Orleans, they have an awesome WWII museum that can take more than a day to go through depending on interest. They break it down into different parts of the war so you can focus on one part at a time.
I've heard about this. I've heard the interactive film is quite incredible.

My grandfather was part of the 99th, never said much about it but you could tell it affected him his whole life. He died in 1989 and I so wish I'd have heard more of his experiences.

Got a 2.25% during the pandemic. On a $300,000. Payment including taxes, and insurance is just under $1500 a month. Would make absolutely no sense in attempting to upgrade and tie on any mortgage at todays rates or selling and renting. Would cost substantial more to buy or rent today.
We missed the exceptionally low rates but we're still happy with where we are. Should have it fully paid off within 6-7 years at most.

We refinanced to 3.875% during the pandemic and owe well under $200k. Have 1 car payment (wife's, <$15k), a small balance student loan (also wife's) and utilities. Should all be gone by Christmas besides the mortgage.
Fuck this rabid spending trend!

As long as she is only assigned duties she can handle, good for her, but they are very limited. Many places have different standards for women and men ? Is firefighting not one of them ?
Now picture yourself being caught in a house on fire, and being 225 pounds, and passed out, and then tell me truthfully who you would like to be around to drag your ass out of a burning building, or having to carry you out on their shoulder down a 50 ft. ladder.
There is a single standard for both males and females in the fire service. Women have to meet the same standards as men.
Would you be able to drag 225 pounds of dead weight out of a burning building or down a ladder? If you could, you'd be a rarity.
Firefighting is a team sport, they do things as a group.

Amazing how stupid society has become. I worked at a company for a short while that was run by women. What a clusterfukk ! 90 % of them didn,t have a clue about any of the mechanical stuff, but some of them were cute enough, and smart enough to know who the had to fukk in the company to get promoted, making the problem even worse.
Trying to bring women into jobs that they are not equipped mentally or physically is a disaster. There are lots of jobs that are suited for women, they should stick to doing those well.
Both my son and daughter just graduated with Associate Degrees in Fire Protection. Both of them have been volunteers on the local Fire Dept for the last 2 years and they aren't 21 yet. My daughter was the only female in her class and graduated near the top. She did everything the guys did and some of it she did better because she's smaller than them (think confined space search and rescue). Most of the guys in her class wouldn't talk to her for the first year but she earned their respect by being a bad ass. She also rides an 800 Cat and does all her own maintenance. But maybe I should just tell her that she should go be a receptionist instead? I don't think so.
