Back on topic: The new gauge is a step in the right direction (I'm talking about the new for 2024 gauge that Cat keeps trying to sneak into photos and video, but people keep pretending they don't see).
If I were Heidi, I would not want to compete directly with Ski Doo and Polaris on the display front. There's no way Arctic Cat can get anywhere close to the fancy pants displays with their obviously lower R&D budget.
A better strategy for Cat is to partner with a big GPS name and develop their own gauge. Let the big name license it to others in motorsports to recoup the cost of development. Meanwhile, it costs Cat a fraction and allows them to have something worthy of the market. The Tread, in my opinion, is a stopgap solution until an integrated display can be developed.
This is where I think they're headed and partnering with Garmin makes perfect sense. The instrument panel on the Catalyst is much bigger than the new gauge and is nice and flat - perfect for a much larger display. They didn't tell me anything, all I'm doing is guessing, based on what I saw.
In aviation, manufacturers don't put their own branded gauges in new airplanes. That's not the question you ask when you buy one. You don't need to ask who made it, all you need to do is ask which model it is.
What size is that new Base Gauge ? Is it easier to read then the Deluxe one?

Just saw this after reading your post….
So we had an experience on Sunday afternoon, 2021 skidoo burnt up. Fortunately we were literally at cut river road and the trail to the inn and store.
Coming to a stop we all noticed a strong fuel smell and our friend's doo was smoldering already. We pull pto panel and there were flames,he was pull his phone and bags off while I was trying to fill it with snow. I jumped on my sled and went in and grabbed an extinguisher from the cut river store. They called the fire station and I raced back to find it engulfed in flames.
I hit it with a tiny extinguisher which helped but kept tossing snow on .
It's a total loss but not a puddle of goo, plenty of good parts yet. Bad end to a good weekend of riding, this was Sunday about 11amWhy would anyone try and put that fire out? Just let that pile of shit burn and collect the insurance money and put it toward an all new catalyst!!!!!

My 22 runs like 93 to 104 on snow. On Ice I have to watch it as the temps climb pretty fast so if I know a stretch of icy trails is ahead, I will drop one scratcher and usually all that is needed. I did add the tunnel flares.
How do you like your 22? Is the ride firmer then your previous sled?

Thought Doo would release a 650 to try and compete with the catalyst 600!!!!

That's one of the sleds I rode the day after that video was recorded.
Were there any 129 catalyst there when you were testing?

Could not be verified, because they didn’t have the schedule with them: demo ride schedule includes ERX at the Ditchbanger Nationals, Feb 11. Minnesota may or may not see another venue for actual rides, but nobody could tell me for sure. The schedule is basically finalized and will be released very soon.
If you can get to a demo venue, do it. Cat is very proud of the Catalyst and enthused about the future of the brand, as they should be. Second day of riding for me, and it was awesome. The Cat people have been outstanding.
Is the new 600 making more HP then the current ctech? Does it feel stronger?

it's so we can still light a smoke if the bic is broke
why do people care so much about a gauge?
rpm, temp and distance to the nearest strip joint is more than adequate
Ok , If you say so Jim!!!!

Poo finally caught up to the procross with the matrix, doo was still far behind. The all new catalyst will leave them in the snow dust!!!!!

Many of the parts missing are because they just simply fell off because , well, its a doo!!!!!
-
So, have they stopped production on the 23's or are they still pumping them out?
-
I asked the engineers if there would be a 129 track option and if the 600 was getting a power increase a couple of days ago but no response yet!!!!

Why is it that everything brp makes is uglier then hell. From sleds to atv's to those fugly spiders? With all that R&D money you would think they could make it look sexy but they continue to put out frankinstein looking shit!!!!
