  1. what we need is all the body shops to stick together. as it stands if i refuse the 55.00 hourly rate they call joe's body shop and he takes it. if we all stuck together and said no they would have to step up. now they have their own "authorized" shops they try to force them to. in ny state you go where you want to

In our area ins co's are paying $65/hr for labor and minimal markup on parts. How can you hire good techs?

my argument exactly. they try 50.00 an hour. i ask them , how much do you think a start to finish body man makes? is there any money for the house? " well that's the going rate in your area" bullshit. my rate is 135.00. where else do you see someone choose how much they pay? try that with your insurance premiums

  3. i scored a good one yesterday. i have been looking for an extra kayak to have on hand. feel bad out there killing it and my buddy doesn't have a kayak. marketplace was loaded and one in my town stuck out , no response. i was browsing in the  morning and found it . wilderness systems tsunami 140 , with a rudder. about a half hour away for 550.00. i messaged him, he popped right back, i knew exactly where his house is. i took a buddy just in case. i pull up he's waiting. the boat is a 2020 , he used it 5 times. sweet seat, rudder, 2 hatches, 2 mesh bags on the deck. then he gave me a pump, paddle float, anchor with rope, life jacket, cockpit cover, deck bag , and a carbon paddle. like my buddy said i bought the accessories. the boat without the rudder looks like 1699.00 , rudder is 341.00 on amazon. i got a smokin deal and it's all like new. nice young kid with too many irons in the fire. i'm gonna try it , and maybe switch from my tandem 145t , let my buddy use it. this thing i got today is beautiful. paddle is 349.00 , weighs 26 ounces. thursday it's on !

  4. i went on a 12 hour marathon to jeffries. i brought home 20lbs of cod filets. got my money's worth. it was a bachelor party. those guys were drinking and eating. they said in every picture i was fishing. first mate just hung out bullshitting. after a few minutes he asked if i was good . yup. i caught most of what was in the coolers but we split it up. he fileted on the way back. i had to drive back to ny when i hit land so i had no booze. those guys hit land , and were fucked. i left 9pm, they were done. so much for the bachelor party. i had to drink coffee to make the drive home. up early , 12 hours on the boat, then driving home in the dark. i'm a champ behind the wheel, but i'm sleeping by the first stop sign as a passenger . unless i have doubt in your driving...

  5. bodywork is an art. it takes time to become a good all around body man. but caring is from a young age. leaving shit loose and no concern is just lazy people, and no one checking the quality of the repair is more of the same. i deal with a ton of insurance companies . progressive sucks. i have pretty much thrown them out. refusal to pay for legitimate supplement with all the documents. a lot of times it comes down to the individual adjuster. just like extended warranty , some guys are eager to help, others act like it's their own money

  6. local kid bought weed that somehow had fentanyl in it. almost died, they thought he crashed his quad because that's how they found him. in a ditch unresponsive. there are some that became addicted to pain killers after surgery . i was eating percocet like candy on and off for 11 months. 13mm kidney stone stuck in my ureter , took 7 tries with the laser to get it out. 8th time to fix the damage it did to my ureter. i would have a procedure , being in unbearable pain, eat a perc and breathe for few hours. i could feel it after just a few days when i stopped , my body wanted it and it made me feel like i had the flu. i powered through but many didn't. it made me not want to take them but i'm talking pain that on a 1-10 scale is 13. shit needs to be handled with care , plus i am fully aware what happens from that by watching so many others. including personal friends. oh and the worst thing is drinking along with pain meds. don't do that , watched my brother in law get where he could chew 20 hydros in 18 hours and a case of beer. he loved the mix. shit killed him though

  7. ny state is a feeding ground for this shit as well. legalized in 21, and fucked up the rest. still only minimal dispensaries. every gas station here is selling weed. buy papers and they will ask you. what did they think was gonna happen? they opened the door and left it swinging. then the stupid governor wants to make it a "priority" to shut them down. should have prioritized the supply chain and the issue would still be there , but smaller. they didn't want legal weed , just the money. our disgraced former governor cuomo legalized maybe to help himself but it was supposed to have been in the works. proved they had done nothing. weed isn't causing issues here. go get the fentanyl that is. local ems absorbed with folks dropping .

  8. great night on the creek last night. 10 fish. a largemouth, 2 yellow perch, a bullhead (hit a trolled mepps spinner) , 2 fat bluegills, and 4 fat ass smallies. 2 were hard to handle , super strong and fat. had to get a hook cut out of my finger a few years ago so i'm cautious. my buddy has the fish picture but i got some of the creek. got the train just as it came in to the sun. my buddy tipped over in the rapids, lost some shit but we found his shoe and phone. the otter was swimming with us for a while, and a huge blue herron was gorging himself on herring

    Sounds glorious

hardly describes it. we kayak upstream , becomes paradise, bald eagles, osprey , and our favorite , the river otters. fishing is awesome , though it's tidal waters . that can play part. my buddy here was so excited he had to jump out on land to get this thing. small by striper standards, but in the keeper range , and he was gonna have some good eating. i rode some of the trails sunday , pretty nice. some need cleaning but we'll get to it. ridiculous pine cones this year

  10. Tomorrow night is looking good so far. Got some nice pork loins for the grille. Old lady gonna make potatoes of some sort. My first ride with the boys of the year .Ass whooping  cometh. These guys rode all winter while I was trying to ride sled. Sadly the fatbike shit gets good the same time as sledding and I miss it. Late 50s /60s  guys that can climb , and hammer down hill. Probably an 8-10 mile night. I’ll be hurtin’ but Thursday night is fishing in the creek. Stripers are up and my buddy is chomping at the bit. I hit the Smallies, take a striper if it comes. I’m gonna be shot Friday, lol

I went from a Trek Session DH bike to a Cannondale XC bike of somekind to nothing.

I think anything semi-modern is a big improvement from either of those for riding in western MN.

even though i ride rugged , jagged shit i sill ride the bike path with my old lady. air up and go. santa cruz has an awesome riding position. i rode all my friends shit and felt that santa cruz has the best angles for me. climbs anything but totally fine dropping stuff , down hill, corners, it does it all . very quiet as well , no clanking or chain noise, or creaking. i did have thr=e reverb seat post fail on my first ride, but i took it apart and fixed the design flaw. will be good forever. tubeless tires added a lot to the riding experience and no flats. supple as hell over roots, which we have tons of.

  12. last year we were all hammering a long downhill. i was ahead of the ebikes but knew they were coming. i moved over and my handlebar hit a dead tree. i didn't realize the tree swayed and broke off on the way back. landed on my buddies neck as he went by at 25mph, and he went head on in to a tree. i thought he was dead. he was ok. they were like damn sleepy, trying to kill the man. that tree was like 20ft high and got him at the base of his neck

  13. i'm surrounded by ebikes but i am holding out. we ride tonight at 7 , and when i ended up with 2 "acoustic" riders and 7 ebikes i stopped going every week. not feasible to ride together, i just started riding other times. well they figured it out , ebikes at 530 , and the rest of us at 7 as usual. maybe an ebike or 2 stays , but they ride our speed.
