The seat? I didn’t notice much difference ergo wise on the xrs

Ride height helps on the xrs to make it feel taller. People say the xrs G4 is tippy, I’m used to the axys so it was an easy transition for me. For the people used to the bar stool seat low rider doos they sure feel weird

  2. I never understood that. If you have so much money wrapped up into sleds, why not do everything you can to go and ride regardless of where you live instead of waiting for the local trails to be ok when you can ride?

I drive where ever, regardless of if I have rideable snow or not to ride with buddies. Shit I’d drive up to the iron range and the north shore every other weekend if snow isn’t good in WI.

No, others, mainly Analer and the Doo Kool Aid drinkers have off the charts ACDS. This thread is exact proof of it.

Drew and I switched sleds for awhile. There is more in common with the two than different. Within minutes were both comfortably riding the other sled hard.  I really liked Doo’s engine better, but I liked my handling and shock set up better. But neither the Doo handling or Cat engine are bad. But not a chance in hell is his Doo worth paying that much more for especially seeing it still is in the dark ages literally with those shitty headlights.

Steve has the halogens, I got LEDs that are just as good as my axys lights were.

I just built comparable sleds...ZR800RR and a Renegade XRS...the Cat is just over 3000.00 less.

Again, there’s nothing wrong with the RR, it’s a sweet sled, but for 3k more you get better resale, better build quality, an 850 DI engine, 4 years of warranty, and an updated chassis that was recently completely redesigned. i think that price difference is easily justified imo.

  5. Build quality - doo

    resale - doo

engine - clearly doo. Ctec is good, but not even close to etec good. The midrange power of the 850 is night and day better then the ctec and I drove 2 of them this weekend. Run quality is better overall on the etec.

eros - personally being 6’3” the plastics on the cat annoy the shit out of me. Doo eros are better, Polaris are the best for me.

    front suspension - cat

rear suspension - doo r motion ftw

fuel economy - doo 850 wins compared to 2 ctecs.

Doo gives you a 4 year warranty on snowchecked sleds, cat is only 1 which is ridiculous.

overall, the saying “you get what you pay for” holds true. You pay for premium build quality and QC. That being said Brian’s RR is nice. The 19 limited Brian’s buddy has is a piece of shit in comparison. Shit is falling apart on it already with under 800 miles and he doesn’t ride hard at all.

That and they’re made from shit brittle material. I wish I could remember the name of company I used for the rollers, probably still have a set or two in the garage.

The heavy duty grip and rip high torque rollers?

mine were replaced under warranty so we’ll see how long they last

I doubt that. They aren't cheap at all.  And you're not getting both center and rear for $500.  Those are sold individually.

    I have $1,2?? in a rear and center Exit X1 for and SC5 in a '12 TNT.

    RIP2 studded is way better

    BS

I’ve had both, and ridden multiple G4’s. Prestons has a rip 2 with 135 1.352” studs. I have a rip 1 with 90 1.5” studs. Hole shots were identical for both of us multiple times this weekend, and we raced probably 3-4 times across groomed lakes. Top end was identical. We were dead even for probably a mile

Sounds like the skidoo 850 is spitting gas and oil out of the exhaust valves. 2020 poo 850 has been pretty great from what I have heard. I plan on ordering one or picking up a 2020.

I’d have 0 concerns with a 2020+ 850. First years on the other hand, no thanks.

also, I haven’t heard of any issues with the 850 doos except exhaust valve gaskets

  9. If you don’t spend some time setting an xrs up you shouldn’t own one imo. People are shortening shocks because they don’t know how to set up a sled.

Also, I laugh at the guys on doo talk saying they can’t get their G4’s to corner without pushing hard so they throw C&As on and then complain about steering effort

We rode in mashed potato trails in 50* temps all weekend and I wasn’t pushing at all. 7.5 shapers down the center, stock 4” on the outside on pilot 5.7s with bergstrom shims. It rails pretty good

Weird how Polaris has had the #1 front end since 2015 while skidoo and cat have to keep updating theirs only to still not be as good. :dunno:

Brian’s sled reminded me of the front on the axys. It’s flat and predictable. I love that.

the G4 took me a few rides to get used to, but after I got it dialed in for me, i feel a lot better about it then I did at first. It still isn’t as good as the other two though.
