  1. My "awesome" criteria might be slightly different.....    I consider a blown motor a biggie.  Wear items I can live with.  :)

    So what did you buy?

    Yes I did.  For a 600 2012.

  2. You should head up, might only have a few weeks left!  You won't be able to do much trail riding from the cottage though.

Good to see a bunch of trails re-opening and its March 16.:bc:

Not for me but enjoy if you can.

  3. Yeah, was from a club officer.  Any club should be able to tell you how the funding is currently structured.  I understand the desire to incentify grooming, but it needs to be monitored if clubs are gonna abuse it.

If this is true it’s bullshit and not a smart move by club but whatever people will,do what they want and nothing anyone says will matter enjoy the sledding !

  4. Interesting.  Especially considering that the Mach crank broke when the new owner had it.  And you figure that's "normal", when 1200s are about as bulletproof as it gets?  Lol

No issues since.... .  He's had it 3 months, and it's a 600.    But keep on with your bullshit stories.  lol.   Too bad you're getting out of the sport; we enjoy your fairy tales.

Normal, my buddy lost a brand new 1200 in 1//2mile engine imploded....When riding up in Cochrane a few years ago we lost a Mach on the first run.  Spit the crank and clutch right out the side of lower cowling.  Impressive stuff.  The same guy that had the 1200 implode broke the crank on his MachZ a few years before......He rides a Polaris now, no issues since.

  5. He probably wants to see all the sleds though.  And you getting upset at people leaving the Polaris display might be embarrassing.

I'd meet you at the show but I'm in Nashville for the Leaf game on the 22nd and then off to the Eagles on the 23rd.....Should be a good trip.

  6. Cat populations are always in decline when you live near a Mandarin.

I've lost alot of cats over the years, coyotes are everywhere here.  Hear them at night loud as fuck and spooky in the fog

They don't tend to jump fences

    good luck scaring him

  7. Hence, the crossbow comment.  :)  No firearm discharge, quiet, etc.

I could shoot them from my living room sliding doors some days/evenings.   Easily.  A little bait and would be even easier.

But I am in Milton.  Right in town.  Not a good spot for gunshots

Yes one of my neighbours used to feed them.  Even after the coyotes ate their cat.  Can’t say all people are smart.

  8. We didn't watch all the runs.  But 178 was the high number we heard.

And we certainly didn't hear about any stock sleds running 163..... lol

You forgot to mention the TD Cat turbo sled running 163.5mph on a stock engine/turbo

  9. How is the guide a political one?  If it was a political one, based on grooming dollar allocation, the groomer operators would want the trails to be green, not red.  The fact that they are grooming red trails unlikely to be green again this year, is the issue.  And there will be lots of controversy over that.

It is a guide, and is much easier to update in real time, than to go to specific trails and put up gates.  Is it perfect?  No, but to mark a trail red, there is a liability risk.  Not sure why you find it useless.  For example, one lake trail across Wahnipitae is marked red right now.  Huge pressure crack, but it's healed over and frozen.  But the liability is there.

Maybe they've just been lax in your area about updating the guide properly (and not reflecting the actual conditions)?  If so, having that corrected would be good for all.  It is a good resource.  I'd focus on THAT, as opposed to just claiming an electronic guide is useless.  In the old days, we would call hotels etc. to see how the trails were..... no bias there, of course.  :)  My only issue with the ITG, is it's reliance on data for map drawing- stupid in a sport where we're often out of cell range.  For green/yellow/red updates, sure, use data.  But the maps should be stored locally on the device.  Then all that's needed is a fix, and you know where you are (relative to trails.)

Bottom line is.... why not just ride open trails?

Well there are no bad areas in my area most of the season.....the guide did not reflex that....lately it couldn’t be better with the nor’easters pounding the east coast over the last while the over run dumps snow in eastern areas.  Like I’ve always said it’s a guide.....and now it’s confirmed by you it is a political guide at best..pretty useless in the big picture......especially if people plan trips around the guide...

  10. Previous visitors forgot starter fluid at the Wolf Mountain lookout..... but looks like they survived, having brought some nourishment.

  11. Ask him to post pics of the not so good areas..... lol

All kidding aside,  it's a money thing this year.  Club financing is linked to their grooming hours directly.  And because they're grooming closed trails, the shit's gonna hit the fan.  So much for the honour system.

You sure can get thirsty riding.....even a Heiney will taste good!

    Conditions do look good.

  13. Third time out actually.  But then, I only ride on open trails.

Wings are certainly beneficial to lift.  We put the slim little Icom in the 140, works well.

Good to see you finally got out this year. You can put it away for another year now. Installed a new icom in the airplane this past weekend. Wings are in at the end of month.

  14. If these  Polarii are bulletproof,  why is this necessary?

In any case, if Polaris is offering 4 year warranty as a Hail-Mary effort, in addition to their dump pricing, I think they're in trouble.

4 years of rebuilding 850s could bankrupt them.

  15. 33 foot Toyos?  Wow.....

On 3/12/2018 at 4:30 PM, Tommy said:

Nope! even took the truck in for inspection! they took pictures of my lift kit, fuel rims, 33' toyos, took pics of 6x9's, subwoofer and amp. Everything. they didnt question me on any of it... my tires are even 2 inches outside the wheel wells with no flaps or flares. I am going to put flares on now though. Ive had my fun without them but also need the doors, rockers, cab corners and box sides painted again from the sand blasting and rock chips

  16. Be careful...... if you "engage" certain people, they've been known to throw a fit, take their Tonkas, and go home.  Especially if you say one negative word about their favourite sled brand.  lol

    17 hours ago, gtserider said:

    I will,just fun engaging him.

  17. Well, the trespassers will always be out.  They don't care if trails are closed.  Then they'll sue the OFSC when they get swallowed up in a washout, claiming "there was no sign!" lol

Here's a pic I took near Pointe au Baril on the way up.  South of North Bay, there is almost no snow.  A little in the bush.

As for why are they grooming a closed trail?  Talked with a club Pres this weekend.  He says the way the OFSC is structuring dollars now, they are heavily incentifying grooming.  So operators will go out, even on closed trails.  They're paid to go.   Seems like a waste of diesel, equipment damage, etc.

How was the keyboard sledding in your basement this weekend?

I'm heading up to my place this weekend.  These were taken northeast of my place on Trail A Calabogie on Sunday, March 11...now why is the OFSC guide showing closed??....and FTR they have been riding for the last few weeks at my place conditions good.  Looks good

  18. You would think with a new engine, they could have spent a couple more bucks and designed a sled that looks good.  Or at least a normal windshield.

  19. Some pics from north of Sudsville.  Trails were perfect, fast as hell.  They'll be good up there until April, lakes have 3' of ice, lots of snow.

Radar runs at Rocky's.  The Mini Z ran 64mph.  A Mach ran 178.   Some guy in North Bay ran 203.

  20. Dude was on Kij.  Was $50 or so, and he can access all options.  Not sure what he can do with the non-premium cluster though.  And he only needs the cluster, no need to haul the sled, unless you need a DESS key programmed.
