if, if, if.... so Joe Six Pack has to buy an EV or have a business to write it off from?

lmk if or when you start seeing the hypocrisy here

    Ikr?

So if those that don’t have a hsa or fsa buys some prescriptions should they have to pay taxes on the money used from the hsa because somebody that doesn’t have a hsa or fsa has to pay taxes on the money used to buy those same prescriptions?

shouldn't be (or ever have been) a tax credit for buying any car or truck... if you believe in free market capitalism

Tax credits were just people getting to keep more of their own money. Not much different then any other deduction or non refundable credits.

I do get it though that there are those that are for the government taking more money from some people so I can see why some are against people getting to keep more of their own earned money.

That's what I'm seeing, I'm just trying to. decide if I want HW4 over HW3 for the 7-8 grand premium, that and it's hard to find 2022's without the yoke.

For me my travel is all highway/freeway so HW3 will suffice. I just want to buy with FSD included as I likely wouldn’t spend the money to buy FSD afterwards and having it included in a used car seems to really not add much price difference. It seems to me it’s like having a set of custom wheels or accessories on a car that is sold and bought used. Doesn’t add very much to the purchase price vs those without it included.

With the way it appears some have lost their minds with Elon, I’ll bet there are some pretty good deals out there.

3’s and Y’s are smoking deals. Like extreme low mileage cars with awesome factory Warranties. The couple S’s I have my eye on currently are mid $40k with full self driving included and under 20k miles. So over 5 years or 130,000 miles of warranty left.

I've been watching EV's since about 2020, I really liked the IPace, but the range was way to short for me and now for as deep of a Rabbit hole I've gone down only a couple EV's fit my usage. I've got a Model S test drive scheduled for Wednesday, but I'm more interested in what's coming for 2025 otherwise I'll buy used. (I plan on a lot of miles in a short time). On the used market the Model S is the bargain and fits the profile for what I want. Since the test drive is in St. Paul, it'll be interesting if there are any protesters there. I'll be walking from the Porsche dealer next door so I'm kinda hoping to walk thru the protesters to get to Tesla. 🤣

81k miles on my model 3 bought new in December of 2021. Only one issue…. The trunk strut opening gave out and wouldn’t lift the trunk lid. My model has a single powered lift strut vs later models that went to 2. If it wasn’t warrantied I would have either not replaced it and just lifted the trunk the first foot or bought a couple dollar junk yard strut.

But the kid is in need of a reliable car as his Older gmc 1500 and his Nissan frontier are costing him $3-400 a month not including gas to keep up with the older vehicle repairs. Not to mention I’m tired of wrenching on his shit to help him out and being that he is getting married next month he needs something better. So selling him my model 3 on the cheap and going to pickup up a 2022+ model S. Lots of great low mileage model S’s on the cheap.

The long distance travelling that I use the car for a longer range of an S as well as a stronger charging curve will be much welcomed for the long distances I frequently go. Also the Tesla charging network is flawless which is why no EV really compares to Tesla.

Also have a Rivian r1s and the wife has around 15k on it and is great but much prefer the Tesla for long trips away from home.

  6. Egg

Prices have plummeted as Trump saved the chickens.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna196401

After surging for much of the year, egg prices have declined sharply over the past week as consumers pulled back on purchases, allowing supplies to resettle at more normal volumes.

The result: The average cost of a dozen large white eggs is now $4.90, compared with an all-time high of $8.64 on March 5, the United States Department of Agriculture said Thursday.

  7. These tariffs will only work if Trump puts the money back into “the no taxes on tips or overtime” policy. If he doesn’t do that he is making all Americans worse off.

    It's over 40 today.

Ya. How low is it going to go? I thinks it’s going below 40 this year if all trumps rhetoric comes to fruition.

just had an interesting conversation with a colleague who doesn't always think outside the box.... so, if the cost of literally 'everything' has gone up dramatically in the past five years and the counties and states collect sales taxes... shouldn't that be an enormous increase in sales tax revenue for them? have your local and state taxes gone down in the past five years... or are their expenses also dramatically increased?

Yep both income tax and property tax have gone down in my state the past 5 years.

Correct, it was already spent. Just turn off the faucet so it’s not spent in the future.

And I’m quite certain you understand the concept of what happens when the population has a large lump sum of more disposable income - it simulates the economy, just like intended during Covid.

Completely agree they shouldn’t get a tax refund, but that’s not how you keep your base happy.

I may be wrong but I think personal savings rates were up under Covid stimulus as well as people had money to pay off/down credit cards. Most people that have enough tax obligations to cover the $5k tax refund are probably sticking it away or paying down debt they have acquired since the COVID stimulus faucet ran dry. I don’t believe it would do much for inflation as people are going to run out and buy a bunch of eggs or gas or diesel.

Mine will just go as a small windfall payment on my mortgage so it wont do anything towards inflation.

    Just my opinion of course.

Oh really, so everyone has an extra $5,000 more now, and that won’t increase consumption? Tell us some more how supply and demand works….. pc

I doubt everyone would get it since Musk said taxpayer. Large portion of the population aren’t income taxpayers so they shouldnt get a tax refund as they pay no income tax anyways.

  12. Sounds like GM is having trouble keeping up with blown up small blocks.  Dealers are even resorting to Cuba style vehicle repairs to get its customers vehicles off lifts and back on the road

    https://gmauthority.com/blog/2025/02/gm-cant-keep-up-with-6-2l-v8-engine-replacements/amp/

Reports of engine failures have surged, leaving many owners stranded with disabled vehicles and no clear timeline for repairs.

GM dealerships are also facing the impact, with some resorting to hoarding replacement engines for high-priority customers, leaving others to fend for themselves. Social media posts indicate that dealers are now attempting in-house rebuilds as well, despite GM’s recommendation to avoid such practices.
