here's the absolute black/white answer:  your sled/bike/quad etc no need for insurance if it is owned and driven by the property owner.  It needs to be registered as well.  This proves ownership. This also extends to the helmet law.  Your property + your bike/sled = no hemelt requirement.

Sean, I thought if you say had a $20,000 SXS used on property if it was registered and you wanted theft insurance it would need to be insured. If its not insured then it falls under your homeowners insurance (as long as you let them know) just like a lawnmower/bicycle for fire and theft. Might be more of an insurance question. Just wondered why you said it "Proves Ownership". Ownership for what reason?

  2. This could be the beginning of the end for the OFSC. Any kind of investigation of this incident involving a bridge could make the MNRF enforce Engineer Stamped and inspected yearly bridges for all OFSC bridges. Maybe not this time but if someone ever dies in a bridge incident it will happen for sure. We need to keep our fingers crossed we can keep the bridges we have now and keep incidents low key but that won't happen.

  3. My Wife found a gold mine. Van Tuyl and Fairbanks Hardware in Petrolia, ON. https://vantuylandfairbank.ca/

She grew up there and was in the area. All nuts, washers and bolts $3 a pound. Up to 3/4" 6" long.

So old some of the store still has a dirt floor. Been in business since 1866 supplying the oil industry. I'll be sure to check it out next time I'm there.

  4. Back in Windsor we had a place called A&H Nut and Bolt. You could go into their retail part and grab a paper bag and take hand fulls of what ever nuts, bolts washers etc and just paid by the pound.

Is there anywhere around that does that? Not the Home Depot or Princess Auto where you put the Qty and item number on a bag and pay per piece.

What do you think GM's obligation to its workers should be?  Do you own any GM stock that has done fuck all to its new investors after the bailout over a 10 year period?  Nevermind the ones who were cleaned out before the bailout?  I'm sure the answer is no, but those  folks are the drivers here.

Its called a "Soft Closing". Most employees have their 30+ years and entitled to full pension. Plant closing contract language is very good for the employees. When the Windsor Transmission Plant closed, most were eligible to retire just like Oshawa today. They also got $70,000 to $80,000 for trades along with a $25,000 new car voucher. (This was 10 years ago). Some people that had 28 or 29 years seniority got to take a layoff till they got their 30 years then retire. Some that didn't have seniority to retire did a pref hire to London and Oshawa. The retirement package will be offered to St. Kitts and CAMI and if they retire that leaves room for the pref hires to go there. I will bet that there were no employees retired from Oshawa for years waiting the the plant closing to come and get a better deal. That is why some people have 30-34-37 years seniority. I bet CAMI people are waiting to retire too to get the Golden Handshake. See, GM does take care of the employees much better than all the feeder plant people who is what we and the government should be worrying about. So in the end its a Golden Parachute for most of the employees just like what happened in St. Therese when it closed and the Truck Plant. The media and the Union make it sound like they are just sent out to the street with nothing. The biggest worry with the union is the loss of 2,500 monthly union dues which is their only source of income. As GM looses market share which it has been doing since the removal of the tariffs in foreign cars back in the Regan days and the loss of the Auto Pact. GM is making tons of money right now but can't continue to make and build vehicles that won't sell just to keep people working. St. Kitts and CAMI are safe till the next contract and after that don't be surprised if they might get one more then gone. Its just a fact. We could have had UAW support if Bob White didn't pull out in 1987. To the UAW, the CAW is outsourcing just like Mexico.

DO NOT SHOOT AT THE DRONE!!!!!!  (as tempting/fun as it would be)

You would create so many new problems for yourself.  Get as much detail as possible about it, where it came from, direction of flight etc.  Report all to local police, also Transport Canada has online reporting tools.  The base for it can't be  that far away unless it's some sort of Gov't drone, which I doubt it was.  If you're going to "shoot" at it...  try a high pressure water stream.  The potato gun idea is interesting.  But have to watch velocities so you don't enter into criminal code territory.

    Rules for recreational drones

To fly a recreational drone (or model aircraft), you must follow the safety rules in the Interim Order Respecting the Use of Model Aircraft.

Review these rules before flying a drone for fun, if the drone weighs over 250 g and under 35 kg. If your drone is 250 g or less, read our tips for flying safe.

Following the safety rules helps keep people, aircraft and property safe. If you fly where you are not allowed or you break the rules below, you could be fined up to $3,000.

    Fly your drone:

    • below 90 m above the ground
    • at least 30 m away from vehicles, vessels and the public (if your drone weighs over 250 g and up to 1 kg)
    • at least 76 m away from vehicles, vessels and the public (if your drone weighs over 1 kg and up to 35 kg)
    • at least 5.6 km away from aerodromes (any airport, seaplane base or area where aircraft take off and land)
    • at least 1.9 km away from heliports or aerodromes used by helicopters only
    • outside of controlled or restricted airspace
    • at least 9 km away from a natural hazard or disaster area
    • away from areas where its use could interfere with police or first responders
    • during the day and not in clouds
    • within your sight at all times
    • within 500 m of yourself
    • only if clearly marked with your name, address and telephone number

You are exempt from these rules if you are at a field or event approved by the Model Aeronautics Association of Canada.

Hey back to the drone thingy.

On this one................at least 5.6 km away from aerodromes (any airport, seaplane base or area where aircraft take off and land

So does that mean any Lake where sea planes land and take off is not allowed or just a designated Aerodrome Lakes?

    Thanks

That's not judging, it's a fair question.  So is asking for her BAC levels, THC levels, etc.  Checking her cell records.  And fully investigating her version of events without political interference.

The tragedy is the same regardless, barring some miracle.  But the law is not only there to be punitive; it is also to deter others from making similar "mistakes".

Again, not implying fault here; just hope everything is checked.

    WOW.

x2....don't be lazy and dig a little bit further....

I am pretty sure wrapping the posts from ground level down is become more common....seen some fence posts lately that have some sort of sock or wrap that ends just above the concrete and above grade.

I think it was here, or maybe elsewhere that a guy went that same route through Home Hardware for a garage, maybe a house, and if I am not mistaken, had great reviews.

I started with Home Hardware in Huntsville but the Guy there was a complete incompetent Dick and wasted 3 months of my time.

I got the drawings from T-Mart and hired my own contractors. Started last Monday and putting shingles on today.

  11. I'm doing a 24 X 30 garage now. Engineered slab for floor.

Got the "Kit" from TimBer Mart in Dorset. Awesome service. $350 for all engineered drawings and as many copies as I needed. No issues with the permit.

Spent 15 minuets on the computer picking size, how many windows, doors, locations of each and bang. Print out pad and building drawings with a complete bill of material and price list for everything including how much concrete is needed to staples and Tuck Tape.

To quote my doctor when he was signing my FAC renewal back in the 90s' "We wouldn't need this if they hadn't let in all those Jamaicans". I just about fell out of my chair. He never even cracked jokes or was one for small talk. To hear him say something like this was a bigtime shock.

The Doctor was right and that was the start of it. Jane and Finch.

Sad but true and it will only get worse.

Might even be good for Snowmobiling. Look how much Federal $$$$ Quebec gets.

Wynne has been too quiet about Ford.

I can see her come out with some kind of BS story in the 11th hour about Ford smoking crack or sexual abuse that won't have time to be proven before the vote.

Well Well Well, I didn't have the right story but knew shit would hit the fan last week.

You can't tell me that Wynne's Cronies were not involved.

Lets hope the majority and even more can see through the BS.

    GO Ford Nation.
