  1. Well, not the season we planned for. But, he is not hurt. He got hurt during the season but nothing major and never missed a race because he was hurt. He missed a bunch because of quad issues. But, first year on the 450 so hopefully we have this hybird all figured out for 2019 season. He finished his last National at Loretta Lynns and wow what a way to finish! He pulled both hole shots with starting in first gear instead of second as it hurt him a lot when it went into a false second and left him at the gate in the past. and first heat he had over an 18 second lead on second place! Second heat quad got stuck in netural around a corner and got passed by his good friend that won the champiionship and almost caught him, lost by .43 seconds! But, that might have helped him as now he can race same class next year instead of getting bummed up.

And now some local races left, one at Redbud and one at Sunset MX. And looking for sponsors for 2019 season, so if anyone's company can help let me know. I'll send his resume!

    Thanks!

  2. Well, our first race of the season was down in SC and started off great in Nick's first class of Open C,  he had a bad start so back of pack by first lap he passed 12 guys and before second lap was done he was in first place ! we were super pumped! Ended up first with 9 second gap after I kept telling him to slow down, lol what a great feeling. First National race on 450. So, next class up was 450 C and better start , mid pack but fresh rain so slick track and of course pile up in front him he checked up and guy behind ran into him and his foot slipped off nerfs and twisted his ankle bad, so done for the weekend! Ouch so hopefully next race in TX will end better. but super happy on his first race but that put a target on his back to say the least. He had the fastest lap time of the weekend so everyone looking out for him.

I would certainly do that Frank.......I love the cabin but I'm 600 miles away now and its not being used like I want to. Its almost paid for and I havent made up my mind on it yet but its possible in the next year or two I might decide to let it go.

I get it, you have  to do things for you and your famliy! But yes I like the BuckSaw cabin they made!

Yup.....its basically over. Every fucking year the same thing. I'm going to sell my fucking cabin in a few years......every fucking asshole from within 1000 miles beats the shit out of every square inch of snow there because its literally the only place that ever gets snow anymore

I'm with you hasn't been good in a long time. But side note I know your cabin so keep me posted before it goes on the market.

Kind of a tough spot Frank. Nick has been a really good kid up until this point. You guys have been keeping him busy and he has stayed out of trouble. I would talk to him and let him know this is the first strike in a 2 strikes and your out game. Maybe ask him to do some research on the hazards of ecigs. Maybe ask him to find a few videos and put together 5-6 minute power point presentation on the harmful effects of electronic cigarettes. He could present his findings to the family and make a comittment not to continue to subject his body to such harm.

Ask him to do a little research on the subject in lieu of punishment

    Just a thought. .

As usual this is what I was looking for. Thanks Tom, I knew there would be some crazy replies but this one is the way I think!

A bunch of 8th graders at my kids school just got busted "vaping" in the school bathroom last week. Happy neither of my kids were involved, and their response when they told me was "those kids are idiots". Made me happy. Old cat man I hope your son realizes its was stupid and doesnt need that in his life anymore..:bc:

I hope so, when I get home this weekend there will be some long talks about this. As he has always said smoking is bad. And last year he broke up with is girl friend because she smoked pot, so not sure what changed or if his friend dying this summer really is part of this.

Sensitive and stubborn age for sure.  Don't think I would make a big deal about it.  Talk to him like an adult on why you feel its wrong.

I wouldn't be happy either, but at the end of the day they have to find their in life on their own. You can give some guidance but that's about it.

Yes kind of the same place I am but my wife is a little more mad. I said it could be way worse at his age. So, I will tread lightly to get my point across. Just making sure I'm not out of line. As long as he learns I'm ok

  8. Ok, so last night he got busted at all places, church parking for his youth group while sitting in his truck with his friends! And you guessed mom busted him as she got there late and wondered why his lights were on. And now we know why his bank account is low. He said he started this summer after his good friend died racing ATVs. But not sure if that is true. I think the whole high school peer pressure had something to do with it. And our good friend at church came out and talked to him, he is Outagamie Cop so hopefully that helped.

But big question how pissed should I be? I kind of chalk it up to growing up and most of us have done way worse but I don't want to make light of it and not sure what I should so he really knows that is bad for him. Plus with him racing it will hurt his endurance for sure!

    Thanks

  9. Here is a short video of my son from some Red Bud training. What a season, some really good and some really bad. He lost his best friend while he was racing this summer at Millville in MN.

Now we are in tear down mode. We sold this quad and we are building him his first 45o since he is now 16! And that is when the AMA says it's ok to race 450.

Awesome pics. :bc:  Where's the go pro video? YT links?

Wish I never would have sold my '87 250r

Yes the old 250r were cool, his is actually a TRX 450 frame with custom swing arm and A arms and bike water cooled CRF250R motor with some some motor work done to it. this first clip he is racing at local track against two 450's and he just waited for the right time to make the pass.

and here is a short video from a bigger National track in IL, Sunset MX just practice

    Nice action shots!

Thanks I have more jump photos at home but these are cool It helps me to take photos while he practices so we can go back and look at form. And makes me less nervous , lol he is only 15 and when he turns 16 he gets to race his 450 or crap that means bigger jumps.
