If they enforced that speed limit aggressively, our total group would get out of sledding, never to return.
What a waste of OPP resources here in Ontario, that have to monitor and enforce 50 KPH trail speeds.
I can understand having that limit near towns and cities, but out in the middle of a one mile long field, I don,t think so.
We don,t snowmobile to go out bird watching, we love to travel the trails, shoot the breeze during stops, and have some nice meals in different clubhouses or restaurants.
At 50 KMH, we could pack a lunch and eat it while driving with 1 hand.
We tried driving at 50 kph one day for about an hour, and we were all going crazy, waiting for the time to be up to get back to our normal pace.
The speed limit is actually set by the MSVA aka motorized snow vehicle act which is a government law.
Some jurisdictions actually have speed limits on lakes.

You will be able to get down the whole trail but it wont be groomed. It is all public property except through the farm field.
Soupkid, do you think I'm bashing by saying they're not saying anything cause it buying time??
Not at all.
A lot of the clubs are still working with land owners to get land use(my club is)
All I'm getting at is the OFSC is the clubs.

Come on guys, the OFSC is the clubs.
All the OFSC does is act as an umbrella for the clubs.
The OFSC kind of insulates the clubs from a lot of stuff like permits, do you honestly think we would have any kind of system if each club had to have some kind of agreement with MTO.
Yes the OFSC has seemed like big brother the last couple of years with the new mandate but remember the mandate has been passed by the BOG ( 1 elected governor per district who is a club member somewhere ).
I really get tired of people bashing the OFSC/BOG/clubs when they really have no idea what's going on or how the system works.

Quick update date on me and the family.
I'm doing Ok, strength and stamina are coming along as expected, slow.
My youngest son (18) had his wisdom teeth out today and found out that his right arm is broken from a football game and week ago.
Wife spent most of the day with him at the hospital and I have to take him back for 8 am Thursday.
Living the dream !!!!

Does your state/prov have a speed limit?
in General Snowmobile Forum
The OFSC has no say in it at all.
If you want the speed limit increased start with a conversation with you MPP.
BTW good luck
